Pinewood Studios Launches MAKINARIUM STUDIO EDITION with limited Terminator T-800 Optics Collectible!

Scified is excited to exclusively reveal the debut of MAKINARIUM STUDIO EDITION, a new premium collectibles label created in partnership with STUDIOCANAL by the award-winning prop makers at Pinewood Studios. Launching in celebration of the 35th anniversary of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, the inaugural release is an exquisitely handcrafted T-800 Optics replica limited to just 800 individually numbered pieces across the UK, Europe and the United States.

Based at the legendary Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdom, MAKINARIUM has spent years creating props, costumes, sets and visual effects for blockbuster franchises including Mission: Impossible, Marvel, Star Wars, Ghostbusters, James Bond, Jurassic World and many more. Now, the same artisans responsible for bringing movie magic to life are turning their attention toward collectors with the launch of MAKINARIUM STUDIO EDITION.

Described as “For Collectors, By Film-Makers,” the new line promises handcrafted, limited-edition collectibles built using the same production techniques, materials and attention to detail employed on professional film sets. Every release will be produced in small quantities, individually serialized and designed as a museum-quality display piece.

    The First Release: T-800 Optics

Launching the new range is an officially licensed replica of the iconic T-800 Optics, inspired by both The Terminator (1984) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. The collectible arrives as fans celebrate the 35th anniversary of James Cameron’s Terminator 2, making it a fitting tribute to one of science fiction’s most influential films.

Each T-800 Optics collectible is handcrafted using premium materials and includes an elegant display cradle, deluxe collector packaging and an authentication display identifying your individually numbered edition.

One of the standout features is the inclusion of an encrypted FanConnect NFC authentication chip. With a simple tap from a compatible smartphone, owners can instantly verify the authenticity of their collectible through a secure digital certificate linked to its unique serial number. The portal also provides ownership verification and exclusive digital content tied specifically to each individual piece.

Built by the Professionals Behind Hollywood’s Biggest Films

What sets MAKINARIUM STUDIO EDITION apart from traditional collectibles is the pedigree behind every release. Rather than outsourcing production, each piece is designed and assembled by professional prop makers whose work has appeared across countless major film and television productions. The company draws on more than a century of combined industry experience spanning concept art, fabrication, costumes, weapons, creature effects and practical filmmaking.

The launch also reflects MAKINARIUM’s wider commitment to supporting future filmmakers through initiatives including the MAKINARIUM ACADEMY and its online creative community, THE MAKINARIUM FORGE, where aspiring artists and industry professionals can connect and share their work.

At a time when so much entertainment is consumed digitally, MAKINARIUM STUDIO EDITION aims to celebrate the enduring appeal of physical movie memorabilia. Each release is designed not simply as merchandise, but as a handcrafted piece of cinematic history — created by the very filmmakers and artisans responsible for bringing these iconic worlds to life on screen.

This marks the beginning of what MAKINARIUM says will become an ongoing line of officially licensed collectibles spanning film, television and gaming. If the craftsmanship behind the inaugural T-800 Optics is any indication, collectors can likely expect some truly exceptional pieces in the years ahead.
