A year after its theatrical release, Homebound remains a film defined by its journey as much as its story. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the drama follows two childhood friends, Chandan and Shoaib, from a North Indian village as they pursue police jobs in the hope of finding dignity and escaping social marginalisation. At its core, the film explores friendship, ambition, identity and the barriers that shape the lives of its characters.
The film’s journey began on the international stage with its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025, where it drew attention for its intimate storytelling and grounded performances. The story later travelled through the international festival circuit, including the Toronto International Film Festival, before arriving in Indian theatres on September 26, 2025. At the centre of the film are Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor, who bring different emotional dimensions to Ghaywan’s world.
