Rapper Wiz Khalifa is set to perform at Champs Downtown in State College, the sports bar and club announced on Instagram.
The show at 7 p.m. on Oct. 1 is for those 21 and older.
Raised in Pittsburgh, Khalifa quickly gained a following after signing with a local independent label Rostrum Records and releasing his debut studio album, “Show and Prove,” in 2006.
In 2010, he released a free mixtape called “Kush and Orange Juice”, which became a massive hit and led to him signing with Atlantic Records. Later that year he released the chart-topping single “Black and Yellow,” a tribute to the Steel City, kicking off a strong run of major-label success that included “See You Again” with Charlie Puth, which spent 12 weeks at No. 1.
Penn State alum Will Dzombak has served as Khalifa’s manager and partnered with the rapper to launch record label and management company Taylor Gang Entertainment.
The Thursday night event at Champs takes place during the Pittsburgh Steelers matchup with the Cleveland Browns, which will make for a “a very special PGH DVSN,” according to the bar.
