There’s more inside than just two dioramas
The first LEGO PlayStation console set is nearly here, and a closer look at its hidden details and functionality has been unveiled.
Cheepjokes on Instagram has received an early copy of 72306 PlayStation before its launch early next month. This extensive guide to the October 2026 model has showcased more of what to expect from the model, including a new piece and what is printed.
From more interior details to the functionality, here’s a closer look at everything in the new LEGO PlayStation set.
A look inside
We’ve known for a few weeks now that there’s not much of the electronics inside 72306 PlayStation in favour of two game-inspired dioramas. However, you won’t just find Ape Escape and Gran Turismo when you lift up the lid of the new set. There is a small representation of the inner workings of the console.
It’s not quite as in-depth as the likes of 72046 Game Boy, as the dioramas are the priority. Underneath those dioramas is a mosaic of the PlayStation logo, giving you something else to show off to guests.
What can it do?
As advertised, LEGO 72306 PlayStation features a button to open the lid of the console, which is showcased mechanism to the main functionality of 71374 Nintendo <a href="https://comicvibe.com/caesars-entertainment-acquisition-not-expected-to-impact-danville-casino/” title=”Caesars Entertainment acquisition not expected to impact Danville casino”>Entertainment System
You can also plug the provided controller into the LEGO console’s ports, achieved through the use of Technic pins and bars to create a secure but loose enough connection. It does not appear that the memory card slot functions at all, though.
An all-new piece and more
One of the most exciting features highlighted by this new look at LEGO 72306 PlayStation is the presence of an all-new element. There’s something about LEGO consoles and specialised elements. Following in the footsteps of the Mario tile in 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System is a new round tile element for the buttons on the PlayStation controller.
They’ve been visible since the reveal of the new set, but now you can finally see that these elements are not 2×2 tiles as they first appeared to be. There are four printed versions of this element, as well as one blank tile inside the console.
Other rare parts are showcased on the Instagram post, as well as the fact that everything looks to be printed in 72306 PlayStation. 72306 PlayStation will be available for LEGO Insiders starting October 1, before becoming widely available on October 4.
