Chennai turned into a celebration ground as thousands of fans gathered for the grand audio launch of OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood. Bringing together some of the biggest names from Indian cinema, the event was attended by Dhanush, Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela, along with director Rajkumar Periasamy, producer Shraddha Agarwal and music composer Sai Abhyankkar.
The night was filled with lots of fan interaction and celebration for the film by the cast and crew as they celebrated the musical aspect of the film.
One of the highlights of the event was the music. Sai Abhyankkar received praise for his unique sound that he has created for the film. Many songs from the album have already grabbed people attention like ‘Alaakaa Loova’ and ‘Veezha Veera’. Plus the new song, ‘Senjudare’ that has been released recently is a track introducing Sreeleela as Roja, which has increased the excitement for the film.
Sreeleela, who plays Roja in the film, spoke about being part of the project and shared her admiration for her co-stars. She also recalled how Dhanush had been among the first prominent actors and directors to reach out to her during her Telugu debut. She said, “I’m so happy to be a part of #OM. I’m a huge fan of Mammootty sir. And Sai Pallavi, I loved her teaser and she has cut her hair for this film, which itself is a big thing for us heroines. Sai Abhyankkar is amazing, at 2.15 in Senjudare there’s a beautiful part. Thank you for that. A lot of people won’t know this. The first big call I ever got from a big actor and director was Dhanush sir, during my Telugu debut. I’m a fan and happy to work with Indian cinema’s trophy.”
She also had a special observation about Dhanush and expressed confidence that the film would be an enjoyable theatrical experience. Sreeleela added, “When Dhanush sir walks, we get the smell of vibhuti. So there’s a divine feeling. #OM will be super enjoyable in theatres on November 20.”
Sai Pallavi, meanwhile, spoke about sharing screen space with Mammootty and her experience of working with director Rajkumar Periasamy. The actor revealed that she had expressed her wish to be part of the filmmaker’s next project during their previous collaboration. She said, “Pona padathula Mammootty Mammootty nu solli ippo Mammootty sir kooda. I don’t know if I manifested it. Rajkumar sir is amazing. I told him in the previous film that I want to be a part of his next film. Thundu potu vechen. But he really made it for me. He believed in my police role more than me. Thanks to all those who worked on the stunt sequences, it was a great experience. Rajkumar sir has written the character with lots of layers. He is every actress’s dream director, the way he writes his women characters rocks.”
Music composer Sai Abhyankkar also opened up about working on the film and the experience of collaborating with its cast. Praising Mammootty’s energy on the sets and Sreeleela’s performance, he said, “I listened to Katchi Sera on loop for a month. There’s a divine feeling in his music for OM. Sreeleela is a phenomenal dancer, and we know her for that. But she needed this role to reinvent herself, her acting brings out lot of emotions. Mammootty sir is above 70 but I’ve not seen such an energetic actor on the sets. He’s like a child, he used to make some adorable expressions even before they call action. I’m happy that I did that with sir.”
Speaking at the event, producer Shraddha Agarwal reflected on the film’s journey and her association with Chennai.
She said, “Every film we have made under the RTake banner has had a special connection with Chennai, and with OM, we are taking that association to an even bigger scale. This is undoubtedly our biggest film yet. Dhanush sir has made this journey truly wonderful with the kind of person he is, and Rajkumar sir’s dedication and commitment to the film have been incredible. The love and enthusiasm audiences have shown for OM so far mean a great deal to us. We hope that this affection only grows stronger when the film reaches theatres on November 20.”
Sai Abhyankkar also spoke about reuniting with Dhanush, years after their popular collaboration on the song ‘Rowdy Baby’. Recalling how their association has evolved, he said, “It started with Rowdy Baby and it has come this far. Ippo varaikkum when I see kids, they call me Rowdy Baby Akka. I was hoping that I would share screen space with him again, and this is a totally different space.”
Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, OM: Chapter 1 – Udhiram: The Blood Wood features an ensemble cast led by Dhanush and Mammootty, with Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, Naseeruddin Shah and Indrans in pivotal roles.
The film is produced by Shraddha Agarwal, Dhanush and Azmat Jagmag under the banners of RTake Studios and Wunderbar Films. With its music, cast announcements and promotional campaign generating considerable interest, the film is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on November 20, 2026.
