It’s nearly that dreaded time of the year known as Broketober, the month of October where it’s absolutely stacked with video game releases as we lead up to the Christmas season.
However, things are a little different this year, largely due to the release of Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As a result, many games are not only scrambling away from November, but many are launching in September, with some trickling into October.
That being said, that’s not to say that October isn’t stacked with video game releases, because it most certainly is, and with that in mind, we’ll take a look at all the major video games launching in Broketober 2026. So, you’d better save your money to prepare, if you haven’t already.
Rayman Legends Retold
Launching On:PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2
As the name of the game clearly suggests, this is a full remake, reimagined with gorgeous visuals and animations of Ubisoft’s platformer, Rayman: Legends, which was originally released in 2013. The OG was a 2.5 platformer, but now this remake lets us experience the game in a mixture of 2.5D and 3D, depending on the segment.
“Embark on a bold reimagining of the beloved platformer, with new visuals and a retold story. Play solo or up to four‑player couch co‑op, explore a mysterious new realm, jam through new musical stages, and more,” reads the synopsis of Rayman Legends Untold.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve

It’s been quite a while since we’ve had a new entry in Bandai Namco’s action, story-driven air simulation with Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown releasing in 2019. As such, with so much development time in the bag, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve will have a bigger story, a bigger world to explore, a bigger aircraft roster, bigger multiplayer modes with the introduction of co-op and more. In a nutshell, it’s set to be bigger and better than its predecessor.

Experience a breathtaking campaign filled with high-stakes missions, hard choices, and deep squad connections,” the description of the game reads.

Despite some internal struggles with yet another round of mass layoffs, when it comes to releasing first-party bangers, Xbox has been on somewhat of a roll. Not only with Forza Horizon 6, Halo: Campaign Evolved, but also the highly anticipated prequel, Gears of War: E-Day.
Gears of War: E-Day takes place on what is known as “Emergence Day”, the day that the Locus, hiding beneath the surface, began their assault to swarm and take over the Earth-like planet, Sera. It takes place 14 years before the events of the 2006 game, and we get to play as a younger Marcus Phoenix and Dominic Santiago. “Experience Emergence Day – the brutal origin story of one of gaming’s most acclaimed third-person shooter franchises,” reads the game’s ominous warning.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer

Over the years, the Star Wars franchise has given us at least a couple of really good racing games, those being Star Wars Episode I: Racer (1999) and Star Wars: Racer Revenge (2002). Well, in the spirit of those beloved racing games set in a galaxy far, far away, we have Star Wars: Galactic Racerwhich takes place after Return of the Jedi, following the Empire’s fall.
In Star Wars: Galactic Racer, you’ll not only compete in high-octane and dangerous competitions, but you’ll be able to customise your repulsorcraft to your heart’s content. It features a story campaign inspired by the roguelike genre, starring the new protagonist, Shade. It also features online multiplayer for up to 12 players. Hopefully, Star Wars: Galactic Racer will achieve cult-like status similar to its predecessors.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen

This is the highly anticipated expansion to 2023’s action-adventure RPG from Capcom, Dragon’s Dogma 2. Dark Arisen, which shares the same name as the expansion for the original game, will introduce a new story about the immortal Fallen Dragon, as well as new enemies, dungeons, new endgame content and much more.
“It may have some rougher edges and potentially obtuse systems that could put some players off, but if you can stick with it and settle into its unique groove, you stand to experience a genuine all-timer,” we said in our review of the base game. “Capcom has created a cinematic, epic adventure that is somehow also unique to every player. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a surprising, maddening, glorious masterpiece.”
Valor Mortis, Lyrical Games/One More Level

This new action RPG looks to be a treat for soulsborne fans. From the creators of the fast-paced parkour game Ghostrunner, Valor Mortisis something a little different from the studio One More Level. It’s set in an alternate Napoleonic Wars history, as you play as a soldier, resurrected by Napoleon.
“Rise from death as a former soldier of Napoleon’s army. Wield supernatural powers, battle horrifying monsters, and unravel a conspiracy that threatens all of humanity,” reads the synopsis of the game.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse
Launching On: PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch
A true throwback to the 2D, side-scrolling action platformers from Konami, Castlevania: Belmont’s Revenge is for those after something inspired by a generation long passed. In particular, it’s inspired by the Castlevania games that were released on the NES and SNES.
“Crimson Curse —Will Your Fate Bloom in Despair or Salvation? Set 23 years after Castlevania Dracula’s Curse – follow Rose Belmont’s journey in an all-new 2D Action-Exploration title from Konami, Evil Empire and Motion Twin,” reads the description of the game co-developed by Konami and Evil Empire.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resorts

If there is a franchise for all ages, it would be Nintendo’s Sports series, which made its debut on the Wii in 2006, that got kids, parents and grandparents playing indoor bowling, tennis, boxing and more. Now, the series returns on the Nintendo Switch 2 with Sports Resorts.
Will this game have the same sort of impact as its predecessors? Only time will tell, but it would be a hard task, but if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that Nintendo Switch Sports Resorts will most likely be one of the most popular family-friendly multiplayer games in 2026.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Activision

The massive Call of Duty series arrives for yet another annual release, and given the disappointments of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III, MW4will be looking to knock it out of the park with an all-new story campaign and robust multiplayer offering.
“A young squad of South Korean soldiers fight to survive on the collapsing front lines, while half a world away, a vengeful Captain Price wages a personal war from the shadows as he stays one step ahead of those hunting him,” explains the synopsis of the story campaign. “As Price’s off-book mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone’s control.”
Phantom Blade Zero

This is the next soulslike entry on this list, in particular if you love the 2019 Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice by FromSoftware. Based on Chinese mythology with a modern twist, Phantom Blade Zero looks nothing short of spectacular with its excellent combat, epic boss fights and stunning visuals. It’s also the first major AAA from S-GAME Studio, which has the backing of Sony, with Phantom Blade Zero being somewhat of a reimagining of the studio’s 2009 indie release, Rainblood: Town of Death.
“S-GAME presents Phantom Blade Zero, a fusion of classic Wuxia storytelling and exhilarating action powered by Unreal Engine 5. You play as Soul, a warrior with only sixty-six days left to live. Fend off assassins, unravel world-ending conspiracies, and defend your values with your life,” the description of the game reads.
So, there you have it, those are the major games arriving in the dreaded Broketober. Hopefully, it won’t be too expensive for us all.
