The bad news for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4 keeps rolling in lately!
First, Daryl Dixon skipped San Diego Comic-Con in July. Then, on the day the panel would have been, we learned that season 4 was actually coming in 2027. After a brief respite with thefirst lookat Daryl Dixon season 4 and the news the show would be at New York Comic Con in October, things were looking up for the first time in a bit.
Unfortunately, AMC has confirmed the Daryl Dixonpanel at NYCC, but the man, the myth, and the legend who plays the titular character will not actually be at the panel, which is scheduled for Oct. 9 at 5:15 p.m. ET. Norman Reedus appears to be skipping the NYCC panel for Daryl Dixon ahead of the final season‘s premiere in 2027.
AMC confirmed the attendees and panel times for all of its <a href="https://comicvibe.com/new-netflix-shows-and-movies-in-september-2026/” title=”New Netflix Shows and Movies in September 2026″>shows for NYCC, including Daryl Dixon, and Reedus is not on the list. No reason has been given for his planned absence for the convention.
According to AMC, Melissa McBride, who co-stars inDaryl Dixon as Carol Peletier, will be attending the NYCC panel, along with Scott M. Gimple, executive producer, and David Zabel, executive producer and showrunner.
Obviously, it will be great to see and hear from McBride, Zabel, and Gimple. It will be a major disappointment for Walking DeadandDaryl Dixon fans should Reedus actually not be able to attend the convention. We know Daryl Dixon season 4 will be the final season, and by all indications, it will arrive before New York Comic Con 2027, which means that this will be the last appearance for the series before it comes to an end.
There’s a chance, of course, thatDaryl Dixon season 4 could premiere in the fall and run through October. We still have not had a premiere date for the season announced yet, but I think it’s much more likely that the season will premiere before Q4 2027. Production on the final season wrapped at the end of 2025.
When Daryl Dixon missed SDCC 2026, he told fans on Instagram that he would be at the convention in 2027.
Reedus likely has a schedule conflict with his new Apple TV series
Reedus isn’t one to just miss something like NYCC without a good reason. He’s well-known for interacting with fans at conventions all over the world, including multiple appearances at NYCC in the past.
Just a short time ago, we learned that Reedus’ next roleafter Daryl Dixon ends will be in Apple TV’s Disavowed. He’s starring in the series alongside James Marsden, Noma Dumezweni, and Bokeem Woodbine.
Production on Disavowed started in August in Europe, and production is reportedly going to last until the spring of 2027 It makes sense that Reedus couldn’t get away from filming Disavowed to head to New York and make an appearance, especially when the press tour for Daryl Dixon season 4 hasn’t really started
It’s definitely possible that Reedus could do a video message for fans. We’ve seen panels bring stars and creatives inand the Daryl Dixon panel
