Canada is finally seeing its first Nintendo Store within the country, but it isn’t the classic Nintendo Store you might recognize from cities like Tokyo, New York or San Fransico.
Nintendo is opening its first store‑within‑a‑store space in North America, and the first store in Canada overall, and Toronto is where you will find it. The new store experience is inside the EB Games flagship store at 267 Yonge Street, and it officially opens to the public on October 17 at 10 am. The opening includes a ribbon‑cutting and a small promo while supplies last:

“Opening-day offers include a $50 Nintendo eShop gift card with the purchase of $200 or more in Nintendo products, or two $50 Nintendo eShop gift cards with the purchase of a Nintendo Switch 2 system. Offer valid October 17, 2026, in-store only at EB Games Yonge & Dundas location and not available online; while supplies last.”
CGMagazine was lucky to be offered a sneak peek at the new Nintendo Store within EB Games, as well as a quick chat with Vice President and General Manager of Nintendo of Canada, Susan Pennefather, and President of EB Games Canada, Jim Tyo.
We asked Pennefather why EB Games was the right choice for this opportunity, and why this store, specifically:
“From our perspective, EB Games has been the best retailer in terms of creating a great environment for gamers, families, and fans to come and celebrate. They’ve done that for so many years here in Canada that they felt like the very natural partner to really bring this type of experience to life.” She continued, “We have celebrated so many Nintendo moments in this store. We did the launch of Switch, the launch of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom right here. Jim and I celebrated the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 most recently. And so this location felt very fortuitous and just the right place to be.”

Tyo shared the sentiment about EB Games working with Nintendo, “We share a lot of common values. We believe in community, connection, play. So it’s a natural fit for both companies to come together like this.” He went on to reveal that this store within a store was years in the making:
“We’ve been working for years on developing a very all-encompassing space for Nintendo in our stores, which is a little different than every other partner that we have. Every store in Canada does have a Nintendo store where we’ve integrated video games with toys and collectibles, and it was very well received. So it was kind of a natural starting point to show us what was possible.”
The space is about 1,500 square feet and is designed as a dedicated Nintendo zone inside the existing store. It features Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, demo stations, themed displays, and a full range of accessories and merchandise. As with other Nintendo Stores, the Toronto location will also feature exclusive merchandise, including the My Mario™ Mario & Friends Wood Block set.

Jim Tyo closed out our conversation hinting at more for the future of this Nintendo and EB Games collaboration: “This is the starting point. We’ll continue to evolve this space, listen to the customers, and try to create a really fantastic experience for them.” Pennefather agreed, “…we’ll continue to work together. We’ve got Zelda’s40th anniversary, and the teams have already been collaborating about what merchandise they want to bring in. And I know that this will be the place – if you want to find something special, this will be the place to come and find that.”
For Canadian gamers, it marks the first time Nintendo has set up a dedicated in‑store experience like this in Canada, and it comes at a very convenient time, right before the holidays. The Nintendo Store within EB Games Toronto is located at 267 Yonge Street and officially opens its doors on October 17 at 10 am.
