    • Little House on the Prairie Season 2 will shift its setting to Walnut Grove, Minnesota, potentially leaving behind some Season 1 characters.
    • Characters like Dr. George Tan and the Osage family may not appear regularly in the new season due to historical accuracy.
    • The Ingalls family will remain central to the series in Season 2, with new characters from the original book series joining the cast in Walnut Grove.

One of Netflix’s biggest new shows is heading somewhere new for Season 2, and not everyone is coming along for the ride. The show’s creator broke down which familiar faces will stay and which beloved characters may get left behind

Little House on the Prairie Season 2 may leave a few characters behind

Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot will shift its setting for Season 2, showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine told TheWrap. The upcoming season follows the Ingalls family from Independence, Kansas, to Walnut Grove, Minnesota. That move means several Season 1 supporting characters may not return right away

Jocko Sims’ Dr. George Tan will likely not appear regularly in the new season. Sonnenshine noted the real Dr. Tan remains buried in Independence, Kansas, tying the character to that location. The Osage family introduced in Season 1 also did not historically relocate to Minnesota. “We’re trying to be faithful to historical truth and still look for ways to keep our characters alive, however we can,” Sonnenshine said

The showrunner expressed hope that fan-favorite characters could return organically over time. “I hope that it runs for a long time so that we get the opportunity to organically do it,” she said. Their departures may therefore prove temporary rather than permanent

The Ingalls family will remain at the center of the series going forward. Luke Bracey and Crosby Fitzgerald will continue as Charles and Caroline Ingalls respectively. Alice Halsey will also return as Laura Ingalls alongside the rest of the family

Meanwhile, Season 2 will introduce new characters drawn from the original book series. Iconic figures including Nellie Oleson, her mother and Mrs. Beadle will join the cast in Walnut Grove. Sonnenshine revealed the team is reexamining these characters with the “same spirit” and “deeper complexities.” She also confirmed production is already underway on the new season

Sonnenshine’s pitch for the series always involved following the Ingalls’ nomadic journey across multiple locations. “I missed that from the original show,” she said regarding the chance to explore different settings

Clayface has always been a favorite of mine when it comes to the Batman’s rogues gallery.
