    As the 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO 2026) gets underway in Kielce, global military delegations are exploring the technologies set to reshape operational readiness. While armoured vehicles, missile-defence systems and other conventional capabilities dominate the exhibition floor, an equally important transformation is unfolding in the digital training domain

    Although OVA’s StellarX spatial training platform was not physically demonstrated at the exhibition, representatives of the Montreal-based spatial computing company were present at the Canadian Pavilion and provided detailed information on the platform’s capabilities, defence applications and recent developments. Their presentation highlighted how StellarX is intended to support the creation of immersive Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) training environments for military and security organisations.

    The theme of this year’s MSPO event, “Innovation and AI Technologies as benchmarks for modern armed forces”, closely reflects the approach behind OVA’s technology. Traditionally, developing high-fidelity VR and MR simulations has required specialised software engineers, lengthy development cycles and substantial budgets. StellarX is designed to remove many of these barriers through an AI-enabled, no-code environment in which instructors, technicians and other non-programmers can create, adapt and deploy complex training scenarios without writing software code.

    Empowering the modern soldier: from the RCAF to MSPO

    Presented by OVA’s representatives at MSPO, the technology comes with a significant record of military validation. The company recently secured a major contract with the Canadian Forces School of Aerospace Technology and Engineering (CFSATE) to develop immersive environments for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).

    Using StellarX, the RCAF can create digital twins of complex systems, including the CT155 Hawk’s Rolls-Royce Turbomeca Adour turbofan engine. Such virtual environments enable aircraft-maintenance technicians to conduct diagnostic and maintenance procedures in a safe, repeatable setting, without placing operational equipment at risk or requiring an aircraft to be taken out of service.

    At MSPO, OVA representatives explained how the platform could help defence organisations address persistent instructor shortages and reduce the time needed to prepare training content. Through StellarX’s upgraded Conversational AI Agents, non-playable characters (NPCs) in the virtual environment can be configured to use official military doctrine, technical manuals and instructional material.

    Trainees can then engage in natural voice interactions with AI-driven instructors, receiving step-by-step guidance and immediate corrective feedback. This approach can support individual learning and supervised training while reducing the need for a human evaluator to be physically present for every training session.

    Technical specifications and capabilities

    For defence specialists assessing software interoperability, deployment models and training-system integration, StellarX offers a flexible framework intended for both secure cloud-based and on-premise military infrastructures.

    Minimum hardware requirements (PC-VR Desktop Mode):

    • Processor: Intel Core i7-7700K or AMD Ryzen 7 1700X.
    • Memory: 16 GB RAM.
    • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (6GB) or equivalent DX11-compliant card.
    • Storage: 5 GB minimum available space.

    Decentralising content creation with RapidPipeline

    One of the platform’s most notable capabilities, highlighted by OVA representatives at Targi Kielce, concerns the management and optimisation of complex 3D assets. High-detail CAD files representing military platforms, naval vessels, aircraft components or engine systems can be extremely demanding to process, particularly on standalone VR headsets with limited onboard computing power.

    According to the company, the integration of RapidPipeline into the StellarX workflow enables users to convert large and technically complex engineering files into lightweight, VR-ready models. Heavy CAD, FBX, OBJ or CAT assets can be processed and converted into optimised .gltf or .glb formats suitable for real-time immersive applications.

    This capability could allow defence organisations to retain greater autonomy over their training-content production. Rather than relying continuously on external software-development teams, instructors and technical personnel could update digital training environments as equipment is modified, upgraded or introduced into service.

    “Crash and Repeat”: a safe environment for high-stakes training

    In discussions at MSPO, OVA representatives stressed that modern military training must combine realism with safety, affordability and rapid adaptability. Conventional training remains constrained by the availability of operational platforms, ammunition, fuel, instructor time and dedicated facilities. It is also difficult to reproduce hazardous events repeatedly without imposing unnecessary risks on personnel or equipment.

    StellarX promotes what may be described as a “crash and repeat” approach. Personnel can be placed in simulated high-risk situations, such as a tactical high-voltage failure, a hazardous chemical spill or a complex engine malfunction, and can observe the consequences in an immersive environment. The platform’s particle effects, including fire, smoke and chemical or water simulations, are designed to make scenarios more realistic while maintaining a controlled and repeatable learning environment.

    Following an error or failed procedure, the scenario can be reset immediately, allowing trainees to analyse what went wrong and repeat the exercise until the required standard is achieved. The platform’s learning-analytics functions can also track user interactions and performance data, giving instructors and commanders a clearer understanding of individual progress and unit readiness.

    Digital training alongside defence hardware

    As MSPO 2026 progresses, discussions at the Canadian Pavilion underline the growing importance of software, artificial intelligence and immersive technologies alongside conventional defence hardware. Although StellarX was not physically demonstrated at the exhibition, the information provided by OVA’s representatives presented a platform combining no-code content creation, AI-enabled instructional tools, immersive simulation and interoperability with a range of VR hardware and training-management systems.

    For armed forces seeking to shorten training-development cycles, reduce reliance on scarce specialist personnel and update instructional content more rapidly, OVA’s StellarX represents a digital-training approach that merits close attention.
