To honor the series, Nintendo is launching a Zelda 40th Anniversary Switch 2 console on October 29th. A Pro Controller and accessories will accompany the handheld. However, a new Triforce trademark filing suggests the gaming giant could announce other gear before the celebration ends.
The evolution of the Triforce
The Triforce symbol debuted with the original The Legend of Zelda game in 1986. Since then, the three-triangle design has become much more elaborate. When Nintendo unveiled the special edition Switch 2 console, gamers saw the latest iteration of the graphic. The company has now taken action to prevent third parties from copying the icon.
Nintendo Patents Watch shared the Japanese trademark, which was made public on October 13th. It covers a wide range of categories, including games, toys, clothing, and various collectibles. The social media account believes the manufacturer may release more loot during or after the Zelda 40th Anniversary.

This isn’t the first time Nintendo has tried to protect the Triforce, though it abandoned some trademark attempts. The company succeeded with the royal crest portion of the graphic, as shown by 2024-25 filings in Japan, the U.S., and other countries.
How long will the anniversary go on?
Nintendo has a window of time to make more product announcements. Even after the new handheld and the Ocarina of Time remake release date, the Zelda 40th Anniversary will continue. Starting in January 2027, a series of concerts will celebrate the franchise’s songs. A LEGO set depicting Link riding on Epona will then ship in the spring.
The Zelda Switch 2 console displays the Triforce on its black-and-gold dock. Likewise, the Joy-Con 2, Pro Controller, and carrying case feature the icon. By request, fans could see the Joy-Cons or the dock sold separately.
Disappointed gamers are still calling for an Ocarina of Time remake Collector’s Edition. The foil cover for the physical version is popular, but pre-order bonuses have frustratingly varied by region. Other possibilities include another Switch 2 game or a collection of classic titles.
