Microsoft’s Xbox App is Coming to Select TCL Smart TVs

Microsoft continues to expand the availability of its Xbox app on more smart TV brands. Following a recent launch on Hisense and VIDAA OS-powered TVs, the company just announced that the Xbox app would be coming to select TCL smart TVs in the coming months.

TCL had already teased at CES back in January that its new X11L SQD-Mini LED series running the Google TV platform would welcome Microsoft’s Xbox app. Today, the Xbox team said that “millions of TCL TV users across more than 25 countries” would get access to the Xbox app, without detailing which models would be supported.

“By bringing the XBOX app to select TCL Smart TVs, we’re giving players another simple way to play their games and stay connected to their gaming community. As we continue bringing XBOX to more devices, partnerships like TCL help us give players more flexibility to play the games they love however they want,” wrote Chris Schnakenberg, CVP, Xbox Partnerships and Business Development.

The Xbox app on smart TVs currently allows Game Pass members to stream cloud-enabled Xbox games on the Game Pass library, as well as select Xbox games they own. However, Microsoft will soon introduce monthly usage caps for Xbox Cloud Gaming on all Game Pass tiers.

Starting in November, Game Pass Essential members will be limited to 5 hours of cloud gaming per month, while Premium and Ultimate members will get 10 and 15 hours per month, respectively. Microsoft said that it will “listen closely to player feedback before and after the change takes effect and share any adjustments we make.” Moreover, players with or without a Game Pass subscription will be able to purchase cloud playtime hours through the Xbox Store.
