Mewgenics, the roguelite turn-based tactical game that sees players managing and breeding cats to build an army is heading to consoles, with a new Xbox listing appearing on Microsoft’s store.
From the developers behind The Binding of Isaac, Mewgenicswas released earlier this year to pretty positive critical acclaim, and became one of the first indie hits of 2026. Alas, it was only available on PC, but it certainly didn’t stop console fans asking when it might be arriving on other devices.
Back in February, Mewgenicsco-creator Edmund McMillen was asked if and when a console version might ship, and responded pretty positively, saying “Working on it now not sure when it will be done though but at this point it might be in Dev for all systems.” Now it seems that the wait will soon be over, at least if you’re on Xbox.
Build the ultimate cat army through tactical breeding and send them into deep, challenging turn-based adventures. Draft abilities, collect items, and manipulate genetics across generations in this roguelike tactics game from the creators of The Binding of Isaac and The End is Nigh.
As spotted by eagle-eyed fans, Mewgenicshas now appeared on the Xbox digital store, suggesting a console release for the game is right around the corner. With the deluge of video game reveals, announcements and updates occuring this week as part of Gamescom 2026, perhaps console players on Xbox won’t have too long to wait after all!
