Spider-Man is about to hit a major milestone, and fans looking to celebrate with him might get their chance to do so early. The Amazing Spider-Man #1000, sure to be one of the biggest single comic releases Marvel’s putting out this year, was originally scheduled for a release date of September 30, and while that still holds true for folks who get their comics digitally or via a bookstore chain, fans shopping at their local comic shops will have the chance to get their hands on a copy a full four days before that.
Appropriately, on Local Comic Shop Day.
The news comes out of a message Marvel sent to retailers this week, which announced not one but two variant covers for the issue in celebration of the small businesses that keep the comics industry running. “The below two Amazing Spider-Man #1000 Local Comic Ship Day Variant covers,” reads the statement, “Will arrive to Ordering Retailers earlier than all other covers of the same issue and are approved to be put out for a Saturday, 09/26/26 OSD, before the other covers’ 09/30/26 OSD.”
Of the two covers Marvel mentioned, one of them is online now, and you can view it right here:
Something to note before we leave you – these Amazing Spider-Man #1000 covers are distributedith many other Marvel products. If that has something to do with why the variant covers are dropping early, it isn’t specified in the PR email – from what we can tell, the early variants seem to be a result of Marvel treating local comic shops for the annual event that recognizes their importance
The Amazing Spider-Man #1000 by writers Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Slott, Frank Miller, J. M. DeMatteis, Joe Kelly, Larry Lieber, and Noah Hawley, and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli flips into comic shops on September 30, with select variants available September 26.
