The next entry in the Spider-Verse franchise has reportedly been revealed. Earlier this year, Sony Pictures delivered its first live-action Spider-Man TV show with Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Noir, which debuted to rave reviews but was canceled at Amazon Prime Video due to viewership struggles. Still, Sony Pictures Television and Prime Video are moving full steam ahead with their plans to further expand the Spider-Verse on TV following the release of the MCU’s Spider-Man: Brand New Dayand ahead of next year’s Beyond the Spider-Verse.
According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Sony and Amazon Prime Video are nearing a series order for a new TV show based on Marvel Comics’ second Spider-Man Clone Saga from the ’90s. The story centers around two different clones of Peter Parker: the near-perfect replica Ben Reilly, aka Scarlet Spider, and the bigger, stronger, and more violent Kaine Parker. The report made it clear that the Marvel Comics source material may receive “significant changes”for the on-screen adaptation, as usual for the red brand.
Deadline received some conflicting information regarding the series’ narrative: one angle had Ben and Kaine facing other clones while “[grappling] with their newly discovered identities,”and another suggested their origins may be adjusted from the comics and that they will “take on new identities.”
Despite Ben and Kaine’s origins as Peter Parker clones, there is no word yet on whether the legendary Spider-Man will appear on Amazon Prime Video. As the pair are both clones of the original wall-crawler, it stands to reason that one actor may pull double-duty as both leads. Brooklyn Nine-Ninestar Andy Samberg voices Ben Reilly in the animated Spider-Versemovies and will return in the 2027 threequel.
The series is written by American Born Chinesecreator Kelvin Yu and is one of four Spider-Man TV projects reportedly in the works at Sony. The Ankler reported that Amazon Prime Video was aiming to move forward with “one or even two” of the pitched projects after Spider-Noir‘s cancellation, so the untitled Clone Saga show’s promising progress still leaves the door open for another show.
One could consider the Clone Saga epic to be the 12th chapter in Sony’s modern Spider-Verse franchise. The web-slinging sagas led by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are, of course, over, while the studio has equally called it quits with Sony’s Spider-Man Universe of obscure villain spin-offs, making them all relics of a different era and seemingly not part of the refined plan for the future.

Spider-Man: Homecoming
Coming off the critical disaster that was The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Sony abandoned its plans for spin-offs from Andrew Garfield’s web-slinging world and introduced a rebooted Peter Parker with Marvel Studios in the MCU.
Following his debut in Captain America: Civil War, Sony and Marvel took Tom Holland’s all-new superhero solo in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. The flick featured Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man as Peter’s mentor, with Michael Keaton’s Vulture filling the villain role and setting up storylines that paid off 9 years later.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
2018 was a turning point for Spider-Man on the big screen, as Sony released Into the Spider-Verse, a uniquely animated epic from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller that pivots focus to Miles Morales, played by Shameik Moore. The highly acclaimed epic pulled multiple incarnations of the superhero onto one world to face Kingpin, such as Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, and Peter Parker.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
In 2019, just months after Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Hometook Peter Parker on a European tour as he took on Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio and finally got together with his crush, Zendaya’s M.J. The billion-dollar-grossing 2019 blockbuster also dealt with the loss of Tony Stark and its effects upon Peter, while also igniting a chain of events that would lead to pure Multiversal mayhem.
Spider-Man: No Way Home
After Mysterio exposed Peter’s identity to the world, he turned to Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange for help undoing that life-shattering turn of events. The result was a magical spell-gone-wrong that opened a hole in the Multiverse, pulling in villains once faced by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men, as well as the wall-crawler Variants themselves for a historic crossover.
Some may remember that Spider-Man 3 was almost very different, as Sony and Marvel Studios had originally ended their partnership after Far From Home and planned to continue Holland’s story outside the MCU until they reconciled.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
From one Multiversal Spider-Man blockbuster to another, No Way Homewas followed by 2023’s animated sequel Across the Spider-Verse. Fans reconnect with Miles Morales several years later as he is pulled into conflict with The Spot, a powerful Multiverse-level villain, and Miguel O’Hara’s Spider Society.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Just recently, Marvel and Sony claimed the crown of the third-highest-grossing movie of all time as Spider-Man: Brand New Dayraked in a record-breaking $2.5 billion worldwide this summer. Audiences aren’t done with the Spidey sensation yet, as studios are reportedly cooking up an extended re-release for theaters.

Sony Pictures Television launched its first-ever live-action Spider-Man TV show on Amazon Prime Video as an eight-episode binge in May with Spider-Noir, complete with both full color and black-and-white versions. Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage returned as the 1930s superhero private detective Spidey from Into the Spider-Verse, albeit as a Variant who goes by Ben Reilly and The Spider.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse
There was a time when Beyond the Spider-Versewas slated for March 2024, under a year after its predecessor, but it will now arrive on June 18, 2027, as the follow-up to Acrossthat finally resolves its game-changing cliffhanger.
Miles is trapped in an alternate universe with a Prowler Variant of himself, Gwen is assembling a spider-powered team to rescue him, The Spot remains a threat, and Spider-Man 2099 has made it clear that Miles’ father is doomed to die.
Untitled Spider-Punk Animated Movie
Miles Morales story may be ending with Beyond the Spider-Verse, but Daniel Kaluuya’s anti-authority British superhero Hobie Brown, better known as Spider-Punk, will be one of the first to get his own animated spin-off. Kaluuya himself is co-writing and developing the untitled Spider-Punk movie, which seems to confirm that, yes, he will survive Beyond the Spider-Verse‘s events.
Untitled Spider-Gwen Animated Movie
Spider-Punk isn’t the only superhero getting his own adventure after Beyond the Spider-Verse, as Sony Pictures is also working on a spin-off for Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy, aka Spider-Gwen/Spider-Woman. Many have theorized that the spin-off may evolve into a larger female-led project that pulls in other heroines, like Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman and Cindy Moon/Silk.
Untitled Venom Animated Movie
Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock never got the chance to go R-rated in the Venomtrilogy, but the symbiote anti-hero will reportedly enter the adult realm in his upcoming animated movie. Final Destination: Bloodlines‘ Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein are early into developing the animated Venom project at Sony, although there is no word on whether it will be connected to Hardy’s take.
