‘Lioness’ Season 3 Opens With 7.1 Million Viewers in Seven Days, Up From Season 2 (EXCLUSIVE)

The Season 3 premiere of “Lioness” hit 7.1 million viewers in its first seven days of streaming.

That total, which comes from Paramount’s internal data, puts the Aug. 2 episode significantly above the audience Season 2 reached with its debut in 2024. According to preliminary data from Nielsen, “Lioness” Season 2 was the second-most-watched streaming original series in the U.S. during the week of Aug. 2-8. It was also the No. 1 buzziest streaming drama between Aug. 2 and Aug. 4, per Social Content Ratings, drumming up 6.9 million views on social media.

In addition to Paramount+, “Lioness” streams on SkyShowtime in Europe, where Season 3 also outperformed both previous seasons and is on track to land as one of the top five returning premieres ever.

This adds to a string of strong ratings for Taylor Sheridan-produced series on Paramount+; “The Madison” hit 8 million views in 10 days in March, and “Dutton Ranch” hit 12.9 million views in seven days in May.

“Lioness” stars Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman as CIA officers. Per the official logline for Season 3, “Joe (Saldaña) walks the line between duty and home as unseen forces circle her world. Patterns appear where they shouldn’t, names vanish and paths rearrange. Guided by Kaitlyn (Kidman) and Westfield (Michael Kelly), Joe confronts enemies operating in the shadows, leaving her to reckon with a war that now reaches into every part of her life.” The cast also includes Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Hannah Love Lanier, Thad Luckinbill, Ian Bohen and Morgan Freeman.

Taylor Sheridan executive produces “Lioness” with David C. Glasser, Saldaña, Kidman, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski and Keith Cox. Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios produce the series.
