Karan Johar has announced the ninth and final season of Koffee With Karan with an emotional video reflecting on the show’s 22-year journey. The filmmaker also recalled his late father Yash Johar while sharing how the iconic talk show began.

Karan Johar returns to Koffee With Karan for one last time
Koffee With Karan is returning to host his legendary talk show, Koffee With Karan, for one last time. The filmmaker announced Koffee With Karan Season with an emotional video, as his journey on the show came to an end
In the emotional announcement, Karan reflects on a journey that has been just as unpredictable, irreverent and unforgettable as the show itself, acknowledging the controversies, speculation, trolling and conversations that have surrounded Koffee With Karan, while also honouring the extraordinary love that has brought audiences back to the couch year after year.
He also announced that Koffee With Karan Season 9 will premiere on JioHotstar on 14th October. He is yet to announce the guests of the new season.
In the announcement video, Karan recalled, “I think it was June 2004 when I told my dad that I really want to host a talk show. I want to get two celebrities or stars and just have an informal, candid chat with them. And he looked at me and said, “Karan, tum apne doston ko bulaoge, baatein karoge, jo tum waise bhi roz karte ho. Uske toh tumhe kaun paise dega?”
The host recalled, “He passed away that month itself, actually, on the 26th of June, he passed away. And… Give me two minutes, yeah. I’m good to go. The very first day I shot for it was August 16th, 2004. And I’m here now, 8 seasons later, 22 years later, 161 episodes later.”
He then talked about his journey on the show over the years adding, “A lot happened. I called lovers, I called friends, I called families, I called lovers who then went on to become ex-lovers. Some of them even got married. I nearly put an end to careers of national icons. I’m living with the word “nepotism” even today. “Conjecture” became a kind of a national word. So much happened.
While addressing the trolls, the filmmaker stated, “There will be trolls, there will be comments, there will be posts. And I’m ready to take that on, but within all of that and beneath all of that, I know that there is still abundant love for this cup of Koffee.”
Sharing the video, the host penned in the caption, “I think we need to talk. Over Koffee, of course. Hotstar Specials: Koffee with Karan Season 9, streaming 14th October onwards on JioHotstar.”
In the statement, Karan Johar, Host and Creator, reflected on the final season of Koffee With Karan, and said, “There are some journeys you don’t plan to end, you simply know, somewhere deep within you, when it is time to let them go. Koffee With Karan has been an extraordinary part of my life. It has given me friendships, memories, moments of complete madness, a lot of love and, yes, its fair share of controversy!”
He added, “But through all of it, what has remained constant is the audience. They have laughed with us, debated us, trolled us, celebrated us and, most importantly, kept coming back for another cup. Saying goodbye is emotional, but it also feels right. This final season is my way of raising the mug one last time with gratitude, with love and with everyone who has made Koffee With Karan what it is. So, come have one last cup of Koffee with me. One last time.”

The show debuted its first episode in 2004, and since then this talk show has united India’s biggest celebrities while chronicling a constantly evolving landscape of relationships, fame, ambition and stardom. Certain guests came in as friends and departed as family, others discovered love, some turned into ex-lovers, and a few even tied the knot. Meanwhile, countless discussions went on to turn into headlines, memes, debates and lasting memories.
From its unforgettable rapid-fire segments and coffee hampers to discussions that turned into national talking points, Koffee With Karan has always blurred the boundary between entertainment and cultural dialogue. Its legacy endures not just through its episodes, but through the questions viewers still recall, the answers they continue to argue over, and the moments that linger long after the credits have ended.
Koffee With Karan Season 9 will start streaming from October 14th on JioHotstar.
