Kakao Entertainment said on Thursday it has opened an official fan community on its K-culture fan platform Berris for MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Married Woman Killer”.
“Married Woman Killer”, which premieres at 9:50 p.m. on Thursday, is based on the Kakao webtoon of the same name that has logged 190 million cumulative views. Actress Hyo-jin Gong (공효진) plays Yoo Bo-na, a working mother who is also a killer. Bon Factory, Baram Pictures and Studio Pim co-produced the drama.
The newly launched fan community includes a “live viewing board” where viewers can chat in real time while watching the weekly Friday and Saturday evening broadcasts, and a “clip collection board” where they can share images of key scenes. Kakao Entertainment plans to provide a space where readers of the original webtoon and drama viewers can communicate through the official community.
It is also running a prize giveaway event through Aug. 9 to mark the community launch. Users who post a comment with the hashtag “#MarriedWomanKillerAnticipationReview” on the community boards will be entered into a draw for prizes.
Kakao Entertainment is expanding the K-pop, drama, variety show and sports fandom ecosystem through Berris. It is currently running artist communities for IVE, IU and (G)I-DLE, as well as intellectual property-based communities such as “Pinggyego”.
It also operates Berris Shop, an official merchandise store linked to SM Entertainment and the Samsung Lions. Kakao Entertainment plans to use the launch of the “Married Woman Killer” community as a starting point to bring a range of K-culture intellectual property onto the platform and expand touchpoints with global fandoms.
