“Baby Reindeer” breakout star Jessica Gunning
“Baby Reindeer” breakout star Jessica Gunning is reteaming with streaming service Netflix for the dark comedy series “Feral”.
The series, which is an adaptation of Shirley Conran’s 1987 novel of the same name, follows four women who are forced to put aside their differences and work together to survive on a deadly tropical island after their husbands, all mining executives, are kidnapped.
Gunning will essay the role of Annie, a dutiful wife who has given up her ambitions to raise four sons under the control of her domineering husband, Duncan, reported Deadline.
“Feral” has been created by Jude Mack, with Emma Freeman set to direct the series. Oscar-nominated filmmaker Liza Marshall will produce alongside Laurie Borg.
Gunning rose to prominence with her performance as Martha, the obsessive stalker of Richard Gadd’s character Donny, in the Netflix limited series “Baby Reindeer”.
The series premiered in April 2024 and earned Gunning several major awards, including an Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA TV Award.
Since “Baby Reindeer”, Gunning has appeared in films including Steven Soderbergh’s “The Christophers”, “Sunny Dancer” and “The Magic Faraway Tree”. Her upcoming projects include “Anxious People” and “Frank and Percy”.
