Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is already building serious buzz ahead of its October release, and the film’s first song, Ala Bolelo, has added more fuel to the excitement. Interestingly, the track has arrived after its 32-second promo triggered criticism online over its Malayalam pronunciation.
Fans call Ala Bolelo a banger
While a section of social media was unhappy with the way some Malayalam words were pronounced in the teaser, the response to the full song appears to be far more celebratory. Within minutes of its release, fans flooded social media with reactions, praising the peppy number, visuals and big-screen appeal.
For many Rajinikanth fans, Ala Bolelo seems to have delivered exactly the kind of high-energy celebration they were hoping for. Several users compared the track’s potential theatrical impact to popular songs from the first Jailer.
“Theatre gonna be blast. Like Kaavaalaa, Tiger Muthuvel Pandian Investigation song,” read one reaction.
Another fan praised the scale of the number, writing, “What a peppy number. Grandeur in making and amazing visuals. Surely it is going to be a chartbuster.”
The song has also received appreciation for its choreography and visual presentation. One user wrote, “The AlaBolelo fever begins! Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is bringing full-on celebration mode with its first single!”
Then there was the fan who perhaps summed up the excitement most dramatically: “Banger, Banger, Banger. Bro cooked? Bro busted the entire kitchen.”
The promo had featured Shamna Kasim dancing in a traditional kasavu saree before ending with a brief appearance by Rajinikanth, setting the stage for the larger song video.
Malayalam row over Jailer 2 promo
Before the full track dropped, however, Ala Bolelo had found itself at the centre of an online debate. Since the lyrics include Malayalam words, several social media users criticised what they felt was incorrect pronunciation, particularly of certain “la” sounds.
One user wrote, “Dear Tamils, please don’t include Malayalam in your songs or dialogues unless it’s pronounced correctly,” while another suggested that the makers should have worked with artists familiar with the language.
At the same time, the promo was not universally rejected, with several viewers enjoying its energy and anticipating the complete song.
The music of Jailer 2 has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while Arunraja Kamaraj has written the lyrics along with Niranjana Raman, Aparna Harikumar and Deepthi Suresh.
Directed and Jailer 2 is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures. The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer is scheduled to release in theatres on October 15, 2026
