InArt has quickly built a reputation for producing some of the most breathtaking sixth-scale collectibles in the hobby, with museum-quality figures that routinely rival high-end statues. Now, the company is bringing that same attention to detail to a much smaller scale.
Unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con, InArt’s first 1/12-scale action figures are based on James Cameron‘s sci-fi horror classic The Terminator, with two impressive versions of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s iconic T-800 on display.
The figures mark a major expansion for the company, which has primarily focused on premium sixth-scale collectibles. While significantly smaller, these new releases appear to retain the realistic likenesses and intricate sculpting that have made InArt one of the industry’s fastest-rising collectible manufacturers.
On display were two distinct versions of the T-800 pulled straight from the 1984 film.
The first recreates the Terminator’s unforgettable battle-damaged appearance from the film’s climax. Dressed in his signature black leather biker jacket over a gray T-shirt, brown pants, and black boots, the figure features one side of Schwarzenegger’s face torn away to reveal the exposed metallic endoskeleton beneath. The sculpted damage around the eye and cheek is remarkably detailed for a figure this size, giving it the look of a much more expensive collectible.
The second figure captures the T-800’s early “Punk” appearance after arriving in Los Angeles. Sporting the oversized gray jacket, patterned blue shirt, brown pants, and combat boots, it offers a clean, undamaged portrait while showcasing what may be one of the best Schwarzenegger likenesses ever produced in the 1/12-scale format.
Unlike InArt’s premium sixth-scale figures, these appear to be traditional fully articulated plastic action figures, placing them squarely in the growing collector market alongside offerings from NECA, McFarlane Toys, Syndicate Collectibles, Trick or Treat Studios, Hiya Toys, and Jada Toys.
If the prototypes are any indication, InArt could be bringing an entirely new level of realism to the scale.
