‘I Love That Fandom’ – Caitlin Clark Makes Feelings Clear About ‘Passionate’ Philadelphia Fans As Kylie Kelce Floats Bold Move

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark joined host Kylie Kelce for an episode of the “Not Gonna Lie” podcast <a href="https://comicvibe.com/as-gta-6-release-looms-kai-cenat-will-stream-5-gta-games-in-one-sitting/” title=”As 'GTA 6' release looms, Kai Cenat will stream 5 'GTA' games in one sitting”>released Tuesday, and talk turned to whether Clark might someday suit up for the WNBA expansion team coming to Philadelphia in 2030. In that same episode, the Fever star praised the city’s sports fans.

What Caitlin Clark Said About Philadelphia Fans on Kylie Kelce’s Podcast

Clark named the fans of the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, and 76ers and said they “want to win just as much as the players do, possibly more.” The show billed the episode as including a Philly 2030 pitch, one aimed at a guard who has spent all three of her WNBA seasons in Indiana.

Clark embraced the passionate fans, too. “I love how passionate the fans are, but I think it’s awesome,” she said. “Phillies fans, Eagles fans, Sixers fans all seem kinda nuts, but I love it. I love that fandom.”

Clark offered that praise for Eagles fans as a Kansas City Chiefs fan herself. Her Chiefs fandom was another topic on the episode.

The episode also covered Clark’s connection to the Kelce family, trash talk around the WNBA and the toughest player she has had to defend.

Clark’s own supporters came up as well, in an update on her Nike signature shoe line. “I’m already working on the Caitlin 2 and that one is good too,” Clark said, adding, “I would not disappoint my fans.”

The Philadelphia team won’t take the floor until 2030, and Clark remains on the Fever’s active roster heading into her fourth season. The podcast was one stop on a busy offseason in which she has been promoting her first children’s book, “EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams.”

The WNBA and NBA Board of Governors formally approved Philadelphia’s expansion franchise in April, alongside new teams in Cleveland, which starts play in 2028, and Detroit, which follows in 2029.

That vote made official a team the league first promised Philadelphia in June 2025, about 10 months earlier. WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert said at the time that “Philadelphia has long deserved a WNBA team.”

The WNBA team is expected to share the Sixers and Flyers’ new South Philadelphia arena, which the teams now say is scheduled to open in 2030. Earlier plans targeted 2031 and left Xfinity Mobile Arena as a possible temporary home, but the project’s announced timeline was moved up by September.

The three new cities will take the WNBA to 18 teams, up from the eight it launched with in 1997, and Philadelphia is the last of them to arrive. Three more seasons, 2027 through 2029, will be played before its opener. Until then, the Phillies, Eagles and Sixers crowds Clark praised will have no WNBA team of their own to cheer for.

Where Philadelphia’s team tips off in 2030 was still an open question in April. Xfinity Mobile Arena stood as the fallback for a one-season stay, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s April reporting, though the new building’s construction could also be accelerated to open in time for the team’s debut and spare it that temporary stop.
