Marvel introduced its new Black Panther over the weekend, and for a lot of viewers the reaction was a question: where have I seen that guy?

At San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, director Ryan Coogler revealed that British actor David Jonsson will lead Black Panther 3, playing Prince T’Challa II, the grown son of the late Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa. The film opens Dec. 15, 2028.

Jonsson, 32, is not a household name yet, but he has built a strong resume. His most talked-about recent role is in The Long Walk, the 2025 adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, and the timing works out: the film <a href="https://collider.com/stephen-king-the-long-walk-streaming-release-date-hbo-max-july-10-2026/” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>started streaming on HBO Max on July 10.

Here is how to watch it, and where else you have seen Jonsson.

The Long Walk is streaming on HBO Max, where it arrived July 10 after an earlier exclusive run on Starz. If you would rather not subscribe, the film is also available to rent or buy on Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Google Play and YouTube.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, who made four of the Hunger Games films, The Long Walk follows 50 teenage boys in an annual contest with one rule: keep moving above a set speed or be shot. Jonsson plays Peter McVries, who forms a bond with fellow walker Ray Garraty (Cooper Hoffman) as the group thins out. Mark Hamill co-stars as the Major, who runs the event.

The film is based on the first novel Stephen King wrote, published in 1979 under his Richard Bachman pen name. It opened in theaters in September 2025, drew some of the strongest reviews of any King adaptation and more than doubled its reported $20 million budget at the box office.

Jonsson broke through as Andy, the synthetic, in 2024’s Alien: Romulus, a performance that won him the BAFTA Rising Star Award. Before that, he starred as Gus Sackey in the HBO finance drama Industry and led the 2023 romance Rye Lane. He trained at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and has several films in the works before he heads to Wakanda.
