How to get Prodigy in Anime Expeditions
To begin your quest to get Prodigy, you’ll first need to head to Anime Expeditions’ story mode and select any level in the East Town campaign. Once you launch a mission and spawn in front of the enemy portal, take a left and follow the road away from the track. You’ll find a park, with the Prodigy quest NPC standing inside.
Speak to Prodigy and he’ll offer you two questlines. The second is called ‘The Scholar’s Trial.’ We’ll need to complete this quest to unlock Prodigy. Let’s go through each step of this quest below, with details on how to complete them. Here’s the full list for reference:
Want to speed things up? Evolve these units ASAP!An extra tip from Callum
Before you start grinding away at this quest, make sure to get your hands on two units: Carrot and Bioinsect. Evolve them at the Evolution Chamber too, so they become Bioinsect (Final Form) and Carrot (Unleashed). We’ll need to smash through 150 Waves with each unit on the battlefield, and unless you want to farm endlessly, we can get a good chunk of the Waves out of the way while completing other objectives.
How to complete the Scholar’s Trial in Anime Expeditions
Step 1: Complete East Town
A simple one that’s relatively straightforward. All you have to do to complete this is finish up the East Town campaign added in the new update. Beat all the missions, and it’ll be ticked off.
Participate in a Tournament
Another quick one. Just launch a Tournament, and the objective is complete. You don’t have to win either! A good ol’ participation trophy is all you need.
Step 2: Clear a Boss Node in East Town on difficulty 3
To knock off this one, boot up the East Town Expedition map in the Expedition Centre and set it to difficulty 3. Once in-game, pick a route leading to a Boss Node and complete it. That’s another goal finished.
Step 3: Collect 350 Mechanical Scrap
This next objective is where the grind really begins. Mechanical Scrap can be earned while completing East Town Expeditions, but you’ll never get tons of it. To maximise how much you get, be sure to pick an Expedition route with plenty of rehanical Scrap
You can speed this process up a ton by heading into the settings menu and enabling the ‘Auto-Upgrade Placed Units‘ option, which lets the game automatically spend the cash you receive to upgrade your placed units. This will let you go AFK after placing all your units, so you don’t have to sit around waiting for the Mechanical Scrap to roll in. Just make sure to place Carrot (Unleashed) and Bioinsect (Final Form) to help with the Wave quota we’ll need to hit by the end of the quest.
Step 4: Evolve one unit
You may even have this one checked off before you begin the quest, but to complete this step, go to the Evolve Chamber and evolve one of your units. If you haven’t already, now’s a great time to evolve either Carrot or Bioinsect and push further towards completing the final two stages of the quest.
Step 5: Complete Prodigy’s Trial
When speaking to the Prodigy questline NPC in East Town, you’ll see that, next to the ‘complete the Prodigy Trial’ step of the quest, there’s a small pen symbol. Click that to boot up his trial mission, which lets you test Prodigy among a few other rare units. Use them to complete the mission, and you’ll tick off this step.
Step 6: Clear 150 Waves with Carrot (Unleashed) and Bioinsect (Final Form)
In short, this is where the grind begins. Hopefully you managed to evolve both Carrot and Bioinsect early and have spent this time already passively smashing through waves of foes. If you haven’t, you’re just gonna have to do this one the old-fashioned way.
To make things a little simpler, the easiest grind tactic here is to go to the easiest level in the game, keep it on the easiest setting, then turn on the ‘Auto-Upgrade Placed Units’ in the settings. You can now place both Carrot and Bioinsect near the beginning of the track and go about your life, stopping in every five minutes or so to reset the level and replace them. Automate it to make the grind as quick as possible.
How to claim Prodigy
When you’ve wrapped all of these up, head back to Prodigy in the East Town campaign map and turn the quest in. As a reward, you’ll now find him in your inventory.
Prodigy is easily one of the best units in the game, considering his super high DPS, and you can evolve him into Prodigy (Rage), which is arguably THE best unit in the game so far.
