Christopher Lambert left several fans wondering with his abrupt exit from a Comic Con event in Pennsylvania. The actor, best known for 1986’s Highlander, suddenly collapsed at Steel City Con on Saturday, August 8. Organizers of the event later announced the reason behind his impromptu departure, per People.

Fortunately, the 69-year-old actor bounced back and was up and healthy to step back to the event the next day. Steel City Con confirmed that Lambert would be returning to the convention on Sunday morning for photo ops and a panel. His health scare comes a year after Lambert sustained a severe back injury in March 2025.

Moments after Lambert left the event, Steel City Con organizers announced on Facebook, “Christopher Lambert had to leave the event due to a personal issue. Return time TBD. Photo op canceled.” He was reportedly taken away in an ambulance to a local hospital in Pittsburgh. A witness at the event told TMZthat the Hollywood veteran was signing autographs for fans when he collapsed on the floor.

A representative later revealed that Lambert experienced a blood sugar drop because he had not eaten during the day and was sleep deprived from the previous night. However, the Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzanstar was “perfectly okay” and seemed to be resting in his hotel room post the health emergency, the report informed.

Steel City Con did not leave fans and attendees hanging on hopes about Lambert’s possible return. The organizers told People on Sunday, August 9, “Christopher was feeling a little overheated and dehydrated. He had to sit down, but he is doing great today.” He was scheduled to return to the convention at 11:30 a.m. local time.

Initially, Lambert was not sure whether he would be able to attend Steel City Con after the collapse but had his mind set for the upcoming FAN EXPO Chicago next week. He is also scheduled to appear at the Mad Monster Expo in North Carolina. The French-American actor is best remembered for his roles as Connor MacLeod in Highlanderand Lord Raiden in 1995’s Mortal Kombat.

Lambert managed to return after a health scare almost cut short his appearance at Steel City Con. However, he was not as lucky during the Swedish festival SciFi World in 2025. The actor had to cancel his scheduled appearances at the event after he sustained a serious back injury. He tripped down a flight of stairs at his hotel and was hospitalized.

“Unfortunately, this time he will not be able to attend the comic con,” a rep told Nine.com.au at the time. The rep clarified that his cancelation meant no disrespect for his fans and the event organizers. “As an actor, filming and promoting his films are an absolute priority and has always been,” they had stated.
