Highlights
- Grand Theft Auto VI’sextended look premieres on Netflix with a YouTube and GTA VI site at the same time.Â
- The showcase arrives roughly three months before GTA VI‘s confirmed November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Rockstar has kept marketing unusually quiet for a release of this scale, with CEO Strauss Zelnick previously confirming a major campaign was planned.
Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on August 27 at 3 PM ET. The presentation will also go live on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website at 9 PM ET on the same day, giving audiences two avenues to watch depending on their platform of choice.
GTA VI is confirmed for November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which puts August 27 roughly twelve weeks out from launch. A major extended look at this point could give gamers an idea of what to expect from the game to push its active pre-order momentum ahead of the holiday window.
GTA VI Marketing Takes Off
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said earlier this year that GTA VI‘s marketing campaign would be “very significant and broad-based”. He added that it would not resemble the approach taken for GTA V in 2013, when network television was a primary channel. Launching an extended look on Netflix rather than through a traditional broadcast slot is an illustration of what that shift looks like in practice.Â
Netflix reaches the 18-to-35 age demographic that GTA VI is primarily targeting more directly than any television network currently does. The platform’s global footprint means the showcase lands simultaneously across every major market.Â
The YouTube window at 9 PM ET the same day ensures the presentation is accessible without a Netflix subscription. The livestream will also lead to marketing through clips, reactions, and community discussion in addition to the original stream building hype.
GTA VI has been delayed twice since its original 2025 target, moving first to May 2026 and then to November 19, 2026. The game is confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch, with a PC release expected in 2027 following the pattern Rockstar established with GTA V. GTA VIPre-orders opened at $79.99 for the standard edition in June, with a $99.99 Ultimate Edition also available.
Rockstar has kept the marketing window unusually tight for a release of this scale. The extended look on August 27 is the first major content push since pre-orders opened, and with eleven weeks between that date and launch, it is likely to be one of the last major reveals before the game ships.
