Team Great Lakes (Ohio) and Team Mountain (Nevada) face off in Game 2 of the LLWS on Thursday.
The 79th edition of the Little League Baseball World Series enters Day 2 as the Great Lakes Region faces off against the Mountain Region in Game 2 on Thursday afternoon. The series opened with four games on Wednesday, Aug. 19, from South Williamsport, PA. There are 20 teams participating in this field, which is split between 10 United States regional champions and 10 International teams in this double-elimination tournament. The second day of this tournament will start at 12 p.m. ET with an international matchup between Team Australia and Team Mexico. Game 2 will feature the Great Lakes Region tournament winner, West Side LL, from Hamilton, OH. They will face off against the Mountain Region tournament winner, Paseo Verde LL from Henderson, NV. Game 3 will be an international matchup between Teams Curacao and Japan, followed by the day’s finale between Team West and Team Midwest. All games are airing on ESPN throughout Thursday’s slate.

Team Nevada won the Mountain West Region, staying undefeated with a 3-0 record. Paseo Verde LL came out swinging, beating Wyoming 12-0. They followed that up with a very close 4-3 win over Utah to reach the championship game. Team Nevada got back to its dominating ways in the regional tournament finale, beating Montana 9-2. West Side LL also went undefeated in the Great Lakes Region tournament, finishing 4-0. Team Ohio’s first three games were blowouts, with wins over Michigan 10-4, Indiana 11-0, and Kentucky 11-4. The championship game didn’t change the narrative much, as Team Ohio won the rematch against Kentucky, 6-0. This will be an explosive LLWS debut for both undefeated teams.
