The End of Oak Street, produced by J. J. Abrams and starring Anne Hathaway, has joined forces with the popular anime series Girls und Panzer for a special collaboration. A nearly three minute video featuring familiar Girls und Panzer characters has been released ahead of the film’s simultaneous August 14 opening in Japan and the United States.

Girls und Panzer Enters the World of The End of Oak Street
The End of Oak Street follows an ordinary family trying to escape from dinosaurs that suddenly appear in their peaceful town. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor play a married couple, while It Follows director David Robert Mitchell takes the helm of a major blockbuster film for the first time.
Girls und Panzer, meanwhile, is a popular series depicting ordinary high school girls competing in tank battles while also portraying their everyday school lives. The series has also generated considerable excitement in Oarai, Ibaraki Prefecture, where the story is set.
At first glance, it may seem like an unusual match for The End of Oak Street, in which dinosaurs suddenly appear amid peaceful everyday life. However, the collaboration video was created around a theme shared by both works: the contrast between ordinary daily life and extraordinary events.
The video begins with animation from Girls und Panzer. Protagonist Miho Nishizumi appears alongside Saori Takebe and Yukari Akiyama of Oarai Girls Academy’s Anglerfish Team. While traveling in a tank, they notice a mysterious and unexplained disturbance.
To investigate the disturbance, the characters launch an operation titled “Yukari Akiyama Infiltrates! The Shining Strange Event Operation!” and enter the world of The End of Oak Street. As one abnormal incident after another unfolds on Oak Street, the characters respond with a series of lively reactions.
The video concludes with an unexpected development that makes it appear as though dinosaurs have even emerged in the peaceful everyday world of Oarai, the setting of Girls und Panzer. The collaboration packs the unusual crossover into nearly three minutes.
