According to prominent Fortnite dataminer HYPEX, a Hollow Knight collaboration is on the way, bringing the Knight, who is the mask-wearing protagonist of Team Cherry’s acclaimed Metroidvania, into the battle royale experience.However, there is a twist, as the Knight is not receiving a full playable skin, and instead is arriving in the form of a Sidekick. As per the post on HYPEX’s social media handles, the Fortnite x Hollow Knight collaboration is set to release on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Fortnite x Hollow Knight collaboration skins
Unlike most Fortnite collabs, which center on a full-sized playable Outfit, the Hollow Knight content is reportedly built around Fortnite’s Sidekick system . According to the leak, the bundle includes:
- The Knight Sidekick, complete with a Shade Style alternate look, referencing the Hollow Knight’s signature “Shade” transformation from the games
- Knight’s Nail Pickaxe, also with a matching Shade Style, based on the Nail weapon the Knight wields throughout the series
- A Sidekick Emote where the Knight sits down on a bench, reportedly accompanied by its own music, which is a detail Hollow Knight fans will likely recognize as a nod to the series’ iconic bench rest points
- A Grub in a Jar Back Bling, which HYPEX says is reactive, responding to eliminations, chest openings, and getting knocked. They mirror the small, trapped Grub creatures that players rescue throughout Hollow Knight’s world
The reactive Grub jar is a particularly thoughtful touch if accurate, since it echoes how Grubs behave in the source material.Fortnite has increasingly used its Sidekick system to bring in characters that don’t necessarily fit as full-sized playable Outfits, either for stylistic reasons or because the character doesn’t have a readily adaptable humanoid design.
