Epic Games announced that global soccer star and fashion icon David Beckham has joined the Fortnite Icon Series.
David Beckham-themed items are now available in the Fortnite Item Shop. A former professional soccer player and co-owner of the Major League Soccer club Inter Miami CF, Beckham is an icon across sports, fashion, and pop culture, known for his unique style and influence both on and off the pitch. Through this collaboration, players can experience various styles in Fortnite that capture Beckham’s career as a player and his current role as a club owner.
The Icon Series release features two outfits representing different facets of Beckham, along with reactive accessories, emotes, pickaxes, and other cosmetic items.
The ‘David Beckham’ outfit reimagines his intense image from his playing days for the game. It includes a reactive effect where his tattoos glow gold upon each elimination, an additional shirtless style, and the ‘Beckham’s Number’ accessory that reacts to eliminations. A LEGO Minifig variant is also included.
The ‘Club Owner David Beckham’ outfit captures his sophisticated off-pitch style as co-owner of Inter Miami CF. This outfit includes the ‘Club Crest’ accessory, which reacts when using emotes or taking damage, and a LEGO Minifig variant.
Players can also find the ‘Beckham’s Shot’ emote, which captures his signature precision shooting. The ‘Meteor Baller’ pickaxe, featuring reactive effects upon impact, and the ‘Number Seven’ scythe pickaxe, which reacts to hitting weak points, are also being added to the Item Shop.
“Fortnite is a game that allows me to connect with fans around the world in new and exciting ways,” said David Beckham. “It is very meaningful to collaborate with Fortnite to showcase content that celebrates the career I have built both on and off the pitch.”
To celebrate the launch of the David Beckham Icon Series, the ‘David Beckham Icon Cup’ was held on July 18 (KST). The tournament featured Trios Battle Royale and Trios Zero Build modes, with top-performing players in each region receiving the ‘Club Owner David Beckham’ outfit. Additionally, top-ranking players overall were awarded the ‘David Beckham Bundle,’ which includes all David Beckham-themed items. Meanwhile, the ‘Hot Bat Summer’ mini-season kicked off on the 17th, bringing four iconic DC Comics Gotham City characters to the Fortnite Battle Royale island. ‘Coastal Catwoman,’ ‘High Tide Harley,’ ‘Chlorophyll Ivy,’ and ‘Beach Bod Batman’ are now available in the Shop, each equipped with LEGO Minifig variants, pickaxes, and accessories. Players can also land at the new ‘Bat Cave’ location, cruise the island with friends in the ‘Batman Beach Buggy,’ or soar through the skies with the ‘Batman Grapnel Gun.’
