The October 15, 2026 Patch for Fortnite Override has arrived, bringing with it new Loot Hacks, a couple of new Sprites, and various general fixes and adjustments.

This page acts as a comprehensive breakdown of the v42.40 Patch for Fortnite, including a link to the full Patch Notes.

    New Loot Hacks

The following new Loot Hacks have been added:

    • Thorne’s Vampiric Blade
    • Finger Guns
    • Gatekeeper Shotgun
    • Hunting Rifle
    • Slap Splash
    • All Sprite Variants
    • Midas’ Masterpiece (Rift Anomaly)
    • Witch Broom (Pocket Item)
    • Super Shot, Big Boom, Action Hero, Healing Overdrive (Overrides)

The Sweeper Shotgun has also seen a slight increase in fire rate.

    New Sprites and Rewards

Two new Sprites have been added as part of this update:

    • Honey Sprite (Design a Sprite Winner)
      • Chance to spawn bees at the hit location upon dealing damage with a ranged weapon.
    • One Wish Willow Sprite
      • Extract enemies’ equipped Sprites upon elimination and push nearby enemies away when damaged. You’ll be marked on the map if you remove it, so be careful.

The final page of Sprite Mastery rewards is now available, including new Quack Sprites and a new Style for the Pixel Polli Outfit.

    Fixes and Improvements

    • General
      • Weak Points once again appear when hitting a destructible object on Nintendo Switch 2.
      • Fixed an issue where the Lock Input Method as Mouse setting prevented controller and mouse inputs from working together properly.
      • The Shield Potion’s slurp glow effect no longer incorrectly lingers on your character until the end of the match.
    • Cosmetics
      • Added new Locker sorting options – sort your items by Most Used, Last Used and Least Used.
      • Fixed an issue where randomized Locker presets and loadouts didn’t shuffle correctly when queuing into the next match with “Play Again”.
      • The Randomize option in the Locker now consistently randomizes the equipped item.
      • Fixed an issue where the hair on both Madison Beer Outfits displayed white highlights.
      • Both Madison Beer Outfits now correctly animate facial expressions while emoting on Mobile.
      • The Air Pilot Style now correctly displays on The Guardian Outfit.
      • The Ironmouse Worm Back Bling is no longer hidden by Decora Ironmouse’s hair.
      • Skillet’s head fur no longer disappears on high graphics while using certain Emotes.
      • Added the missing Porsche 911 Turbo name and description in the Locker.
      • The FNCS Scythe Pickaxe is now correctly listed as part of the FNCS set.
      • Gold Punk’s glow no longer appears sharp-edged around the mouth and right eye socket.
      • Characters’ faces no longer appear distorted at the end of the Test Your Might Emote.
      • The contrail on the Peely Heelys Kicks no longer appears dimmer on the right foot.
      • The Sugar on My Tongue Emote now appears when filtering the Locker by Emotes.
      • The 2D’s Mic Pickaxe and Back Bling now note “Selectable Styles” in their item descriptions.
    • Discover
      • Discover got a new look, rolling out gradually with more expressive tiles and modules, videos that play as you browse, a cleaner logo treatment, new tile shapes and more.
    • Gameplay and Environment
      • Like-for-Like Weapon Upgrades
        • Walk over a higher-rarity version of a weapon you’re carrying and you’ll automatically swap up!
          • To try it out, go to Settings > Game > Combat and make sure your Auto Pick Up Weapons setting is toggled on.
      • Holding the Sprint button while strafing and then moving forward once again triggers sprint as intended.
      • Fixed an issue where setting the Forward Diagonal Angle to 77 or higher slowed sideways movement.
      • The Mega Buster’s charged shot once again deals its intended area damage.
      • You’ll no longer get stuck after defeating and possessing one of Freddy’s Animatronics.
      • Fixed an issue where the Prop Hunt Override didn’t visually transform you into a prop the first time you used it.
      • Fixed an issue where the Hunter Scavenger Override caused the enemy-marking sound to play on repeat while you were in the Storm.
      • Fixed a bug where you could get stuck rolling after deploying your Glider just before hitting the terrain at Stone Sanctum.
      • Fixed an issue where custom keyboard bindings for certain Vehicles didn’t apply in-game and reverted to default.
      • Slightly reduced head sizes on certain Outfits (e.g. Bugs Bunny, Sonic the Hedgehog, Decora Ironmouse) so they don’t block your view while aiming down sights in Big Head Mode.
      • Fixed overlapping Cheat Codes in Wonkeeland that couldn’t be interacted with.
      • Moved a Cheat Code at Golden Grove that couldn’t be reached in Zero Build.
      • The Guardian no longer spawns under the terrain as a Hired Follower.
      • Fixed an issue in Horde Rush where the Surgefire SMG didn’t appear fully when found as floor loot.

      • The Gizmo Wheel no longer overlaps or stops working when visiting Geno’s Machine.
    • PC
      • Made additional stability improvements.
      • Improved issue reporting on Intel video cards when GPU Crash Debugging is enabled in video settings.
      • Fixed launch crashes that could occur on certain AMD video cards.
      • Fixed an issue where some players would receive hotfixes with a delay.
    • Mobile
      • Auto Fire will no longer mistrigger when the Loot Hack menu is open.
      • Fixed an issue where the push notification telling you a download was complete never arrived.
      • Sprite and Override effects UI can now be repositioned in the HUD Layout Tool to prevent overlaps with custom layouts.
      • Fixed an issue where Reboot Vans couldn’t be activated by tapping their on-screen icon.
