A new season beckons in Fortnite with the start of Chapter 7 Season 4, which brings around a heap of changes across the board in the v42.00 patch notes.

Expected to be the penultimate season of the Chapter in Fortnite, the Override season is one of EpicGames‘ biggest collab flexes ever, with the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog, Kingdom Hearts, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Tetris, and many more set to showcase as the season progresses.

For all the details on everything that has changed in Chapter 7 Season 4 in the v42.00 patch, take a look below.

Biggest Changes in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4

A host of changes have come into play for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, including new POIs, updates to the loot pool, and a new array of Sprites.

The updated POIs are Stone Sanctum, Green Hill Zone, and Reality’s Reign, while a host of new Sprites have joined the mix, alongside the new Sprite Garden feature that allows you to show off and display all of the Sprites you have gathered throughout the history of the mechanic.

Major new features are also in place for the Override season, including Lobby Hack codes to redeem rewards, and Match Overrides that, when captured, provide major tweaks to the gameplay in your current match.

As ever, there’s also a fresh drop of weapons, including collab items for Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man.

    Complete Fortnite V42.00 Update Notes

The complete list of update notes, including bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, is shown below

With the new Season launch, Sprites have joined the fight in Ranked Battle Royale. You can collect them and they’ll keep you company, but their gameplay powers have been disabled to preserve competitive integrity.

The Quests tab has a fresh look! Existing and new categories now live in one scrollable view, with an updated Sidebar so you can jump right into any category. Collections is now built into the Quests view too, so tracking your Characters, Victory Royales, Match Elims and other Accolades no longer requires switching tabs.

PSA: The updated Quests tab is rolling out over time – some players may not see it right away.

The map’s fog now lifts in smaller pieces. Instead of entire POIs at once, individual landmarks reveal as you visit them, so your map reflects exactly where you’ve explored.

    Controller Improvements: Tweak Zone

Controller players: if you haven’t tried the Tweak Zone setting yet, you’re leaving aim on the table. Added at the start of Chapter 7 Season 3, Tweak Zone puts those tiny stick movements normally filtered out by your dead zone to work – attaching your crosshair directly to your stick so even the slightest touch fine-tunes your aim. Your camera control, dead zones and sensitivity all keep working exactly as before.

Head to your Controller settings to configure its area, adjust crosshair sensitivity and choose when it’s enabled. Perfect for lining up a long shot or turning a body shot into a headshot.

✅ Bug Fixes, Improvements & Adjustments

    • Improved menu opening times on Nintendo Switch when pressing the + button after joining a Reload or Blitz match.
    • Fixed an issue where sorting the Locker by Latest Acquired could display items in a random order.
    • Visual effects on multiple Elite, Champion and Unreal Ranked cosmetics now display correctly.
    • Added missing water effects to the Downpour Umbrella Glider.
    • Scrolling through Locker categories no longer skips past the Sidekicks category when using a controller.
    • Fixed a bug with Krypto Sidekick Quests not appearing in the Quests tab for some owners.
    • Fixed an issue where Aim Assist could pull away from an enemy when you’re both moving up or down a hill.
    • The Music Player playlist no longer appears empty on Nintendo Switch after equipping a Jam Track from the Lobby.
    • The Carnation of Carnage Pickaxe no longer moves erratically while walking, jumping or sliding.
    • Adjusted Heatwave PJ’s reactive elimination audio volume.
    • Fixed a bug that would sometimes prevent your Sidekick from playing reactions during longer play sessions.
    • Agamemnon’s cape no longer clips through the Back Bling and animates properly.
    • The Sprite Mastery Pod Locker description no longer shows a random string of numbers.
    • Improved map load times on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
    • Redeploying your Glider just before hitting the ground will no longer leave you stuck in a rolling animation.
    • The Victory Royale screen is no longer delayed and appears right after winning a match.
    • Fixed an issue that caused the Play button to be grayed out when switching experiences.
    • Fixed a desync where players leaning out of Vehicles could sometimes appear incorrectly to others.
    • Fixed a bug preventing weapon and item use while on keyboard and mouse.
    • Fixed a visual issue where the Sprites tab background could incorrectly persist in the Battle Royale Lobby when switching tabs while in queue.
    • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused fall damage when landing in shallow water.
    • Corrected visible seams and textures around the water at Heatwave Harbor, Sinister Strip and Sunken Shores.
    • Fixed a bug where multiple rocks at Sunken Shores couldn’t be destroyed with a Pickaxe.
    • Optimized shader precaching to reduce loading times, so models and objects spend less time as gray placeholders – especially on lower-end CPUs.
    • As part of our continued improvements to startup times, the game now launches up to 2 seconds faster depending on your PC configuration.
    • Fixed a bug causing the Settings menu to load incorrectly or crash the game if opened right after game launch.
    • Improved level-of-detail consistency with world objects for better GPU performance.
    • Fixed several crashes that could occur when exiting the game, along with certain rare memory-related crashes.
    • With the Pickaxe equipped and Auto Fire enabled, you can now automatically swing at enemies in melee range.
    • Aim Assist no longer activates while your weapon is out of ammo.
    • We can never thank the Bus Driver enough, but the Emote button is now grayed out after you’ve shown your gratitude.
    • Instead of defaulting to your device mic, Voice Chat now correctly uses your headset mic when headphones are connected.
    • Players using a custom HUD layout without a Reload button or with Dynamic Quickbar Slots can now access Portable Extractors without issue.
    • Fixed a bug that would sometimes prevent your controller binds from saving consistently when modified on Android.
    • Corrected an inconsistent fire rate on the left side of the screen when using the Tap Anywhere Fire Mode.
    • Fixed a bug causing the Shoot button to sometimes become unresponsive or fire continuously after using a Self-Revive Device.
