Welcome back to Fantastic Five, where we look back at the best comics of the week! This week was all about the Big Two, as DC and Marvel each handed in multiple near-perfect issues. Let’s get to the books!

Best comics of the week: November 4, 2026
#5: Spider-Woman #1
‘Spider-Woman’ #1 is a gripping, surprisingly human start
Spider-Woman #1 is an excellent start that embraces Carnage’s horror while keeping Jessica Drew’s humanity at the center of the story. Dan Watters crafts a compelling mystery with plenty of moral gray areas, making Jessica’s increasingly violent methods as concerning as the killer she’s hunting. Andrea Broccardo’s expressive art gives even the most brutal moments emotional weight, while the street-level setting makes the danger feel immediate. Jessica clearly loses control, and the question of how far she’ll go makes this a series worth following.

#4: Absolute Superman #25
‘Absolute Superman’ #25 delivers a truly epic story
Absolute Superman #25 is nothing short of epic, delivering on two years worth of buildup and featuring some of the best artists in the business. Here’s to the next 25 issues being just as epic.

#3: Absolute Catwoman #4
‘Absolute Catwoman’ #4 sets up a showdown between Selina Kyle and Cassandra Cain
On the whole, Absolute Catwoman #4 delivers a straightforward issue that builds on everything that’s been built in the Absolute Universe up to this point. It even hints at where these characters’ stories could go after “The Yarn” storyline ends, potentially setting up future arcs in Absolute Batman and Absolute Catwoman for 2027.

#2: Avengers #1
‘Avengers’ #1 prepares for our heroes to dance with the devil
Avengers #1 is a great story that leans into the awareness of how much fan intrigue there will be in seeing how the deal from One More Day is impacted by Mephisto’s contracts being voided. But if you’re expecting all cards to be shown here, think again – things are just getting started! By taking that intrigue and adding a variety of characters with similar but different guilt complexes (I’m looking at you Daredevil, Captain Marvel, and Miracleman), Chip Zdarsky begins providing this current roster with subtle chemistry that continues to lure in readers as the team dynamics begin to take form. Now, one can only hope will turn this group into a team of mighty heroes up to the challenge of protecting Earth from all Hell throws at it.

#1: Batman #15
‘Batman’ #15 sees Bruce Wayne plan his own death
Batman #15 is a great jumping-on point for new readers as things seem to be starting a little bit fresh in the wake of the Bad Seeds event. In this issue, Matt Fraction delivers one of his best pitches for jumping into the foray of Batman comics, Who knew all it’d take was the death of Bruce Wayne to make things get interesting? Jokes aside, this issue offers an interesting premise that I’m excited to see the consequences of in the issues to come.
