Here are three of the most infamous Twitch bans

Since its launch in 2011, Twitch has grown to become the world’s leading streaming platform with millions of daily visitors. However, despite its popularity, it is also renowned for handing out bans to creators that break rules

Twitch bans may sometimes seem out of the blue or unwarranted, but there is always a breach behind each. Viewers are always speculating when Twitch bans a creator, as the platform is notorious for not revealing the reasons behind the suspensions

In some cases, the reason is easy to figure out, like when
Félix “xQc” Lengyel was recently banned for a DMCA violation. Other bans can be harder to figure out, and viewers can only speculate. However, Twitch doesn’t always start off with bans

The platform may sometimes issue warnings before suspending a channel.
    Two new enforcement types
have also been introduced this year, where a streamer can be banned from streaming but use other elements, or be banned from chatting but still be able to stream. The most severe ban enforcement type is a permanent ban, which is typically given for serious or repeated offenses

Let’s take a look at three of the most infamous Twitch bans to hit creators on the platform, including details on why they were punished and what they are up to in 2026

    Herschel “Dr Disrespect” Beahm IV

    Infamous Twitch ban

Dr Disrespect may be most famous for his quirky sense of style, where he’s seen in a tactical vest, mullet, moustache, and sunglasses. But his career at Twitch is equally colourful. The streamer was one of the most promising creators on the platform, which is why
he was given a multi-year exclusive deal in 2020.
However, just a few months later, Dr Disrespect was permanently banned from Twitch. What was even more surprising was that
subscribers were refunded their money, and Dr Disrespect’s emote was also taken down. This hinted at a serious reason behind the ban, but no reason was given at the time. This also wasn’t the streamer’s first ban, as his channel was suspended in 2019 when he livestreamed from inside a public restroom.

Dr Disrespect was a game streamer and streamed
Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and other gaming content. He moved to YouTube after his Twitch ban, continuing to stream his content. The streamer also sued Twitch in 2021, but the lawsuit was settled without much being revealed publicly

In 2024, an ex-Twitch employee leaked that Dr Disrespect was allegedly banned for being inappropriate with a minor. The streamer admitted to conversing with a minor but denied any criminal wrongdoing. During this same time, YouTube removed his monetization, Dr Disrespect lost many sponsors, and
    joined Rumble
as an equity partner and the head of its gaming division. Twitch didn’t confirm whether that was the reason for his ban, but
Dr Disrespect’s channel remains banned as of 2026, and this fact looks unlikely to change. The streamer’s
    YouTube monetization
was, however, reinstated in early 2025.

    Paul “Ice Poseidon” Denino

    Infamous Twitch ban

Ice Poseidon is currently synonymous with
IRL streaming on Kick, but this wasn’t always the case. He started off on Twitch playing RuneScape, but soonpivoted into creating real-life content. In his stream, Ice Poseidon would travel, highlight public interactions, and seemingly showcase everyday life. Ice Poseidon was one of Twitch’s first IRL streams, and he is still credited as being a driving force in the category’s popularity. However, the creator got in trouble with Twitch several times due to safety and moderation issues.

He was permanently banned in 2017, and Twitch didn’t officially state the reason for his suspension, but it was largely assumed that the streamer was
banned after repeated violations of the platform’s guidelines.
Just before his ban, Ice Poseidon was a victim of yet another swatting, as someone had made a false report of a threat while the streamer was at an airport. Ice Poseidon switched to YouTube following his ban, and later made the shift to Kick. The streamer remains banned on Twitch as of 2026, and his content now includes
    gambling streams
in addition to his primary IRL broadcasts.

    Adin Ross

    who is Adin Ross

    Adin Ross
has started his career with gaming streams, which is a common occurrence among many creators. However, Adin Ross was different as he was streaming with LeBron James’ son, which allowed him to interact with the NBA legend on stream. The streamer then moved on to JustChatting streams and collaborating with other creators. He was a promising Twitch creator, but Adin Ross has repeatedly been involved in controversies and faced several bans on the platform.
He was permanently banned in 2023 due to policy violations. This is the same year Kick launched, and Adin Ross wasted no time in
    switching to the new platform.

Kick led to a massive change in Adin Ross’ content, as he had more freedom to broadcast gambling streams,
something that Twitch has heavily restricted. He also collaborated with many creators, but some, like his
former friends Kai Cenat and Darren “iShowSpeed” Watkins Jr., have reportedly stayed away from him due to his reputation. However, Adin Ross made history when he collaborated with
US President Donald Trump. Twitch also
    unbanned Adin Ross
in 2025, and the streamer has gone live there a few times, but nothing consistent. Regardless, Adin Ross continues to stream major casino wins, contributing to his burgeoning
    net worth.

    Twitch and Bans

As the three case studies above show, Twitch is a strict livestreaming platform, particularly when compared to the experience for streamers on Kick. The moderators on the site are not afraid to punish creators when they break the rules, even if they are big names with millions of followers

    Given the recent example of
Kaceytron being banned for dangerous driving, it is certain that there will be other major streamers that fall foul of the rules and have to find another home for their content. However, it is these personalities that push the boundaries that make Twitch the unique platform that it is
