With the Fable release date set for February 23rd, 2027, Playground Games has time to tweak the reboot. Still, judging by new Xbox FanFest impressions, the first-party game is already in a solid state. Several players tested the open-world RPG and gave it high marks for smooth performance and seamless combat.

On the Xbox Series X console, he reports the 60 fps target was achieved and maintained. According to the social media post, the reimagined Albion also looked “beautiful.”
Content creator The Chaos Lounge chimed in, hinting reviews might praise its performance. Frame rates were stable again, and the graphics resembled what a capable PC would produce.
ForzaTech versatility
Xbox FanFest London hasn’t yet shed light on how the new Fable game will run on desktops or laptops. Even so, after Gamescom 2026, Digital Foundry complimented the ForzaTech engine. On ultra settings, it impressed, rendering a complex open world teeming with NPCs.
PeterP_1985 echoed that evaluation, noting he spoke to Playground Games chief engineer David Springate about the technology. It appears ForzaTech may have made a seamless transition from the studio’s racing titles.
If the 60 fps mode on the Series X doesn’t significantly degrade image quality, that’s a positive sign for PC users. Considering the task, the minimum and recommended specs are also reasonable. Supporting a wide range of DLSS and FSR upscalers should benefit a variety of configurations.
Boring battles?
Another worry with the Fable reboot is whether combat is repetitive. Although PeterP_1985 didn’t go into great detail, he explained how he easily switched between melee, ranged, and magic attacks. Enemies like skeletons disintegrate after impact, addressing a concern raised in earlier gameplay footage.
Despite Microsoft returning to Xbox exclusives, the day-one Game Pass game will still launch on PlayStation. The Fable release date for the PS5 remains February 2027. So far, fans haven’t seen the title perform on the rival console.
