Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, marking the acclaimed open-world action RPG’s first appearance on a Nintendo platform. The package includes the original game, its substantial Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, and several new pieces of content.

The release follows a lengthy journey to Nintendo’s latest system. Tarnished Edition was initially expected in 2025 but was pushed into 2026 after the early Nintendo Switch 2 build exhibited significant performance problems at Gamescom 2025. More recent footage suggested that FromSoftware had made considerable progress ahead of launch.

Nintendo Switch 2 players can explore both the Lands Between and the Realm of Shadow in handheld or docked mode. The complete package introduces two additional starting classes — the Heavy Knight and Idus Knight — alongside four new armor sets. Two of these sets are associated with the new classes.

Players can also customize Torrent for the first time, with three new appearance options available for the Spectral Steed. All of this additional material is included with the Nintendo Switch 2 release.

Existing players on other platforms have not been left behind. The new classes, armor, and Torrent customization options are available separately through the Tarnished Pack DLC. Bandai Namco has confirmed that the pack costs €4.99, although regional pricing may vary. It is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

The launch is accompanied by update 1.17, which adds support for the new DLC while introducing further gameplay balance adjustments. Players must install the latest update before accessing the Tarnished Pack content.

Originally released in February 2022, Elden Ring has now sold more than 30 million units worldwide. Its Shadow of the Erdtree expansion arrived in June 2024, taking players into a new region centered on Miquella and greatly expanding the base game with additional locations, bosses, weapons, and character-building options.

Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is available now for Nintendo Switch 2, while the Tarnished Packcan be purchased separately on the game’s other supported platforms.
