Dolly Parton‘s estate, She’s Alive LLC, is caught up in a nasty legal dispute with the singer’s nephew, Bryan Seaver. Multiple reports confirmed that Seaver was recently fired as Parton’s head of security, and days later, the estate—operated by Parton’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell—sued Seaver. It was also granted a restraining order against him.
She’s Alive LLC has accused Seaver of making ‘threats of real-world violence’ toward several members of Parton’s staff, including business partners and attorneys. The suit also claimed that Seaver vowed to “destroy” Parton’s legacy unless he was paid.
Now Seaver has also been accused of going to extreme lengths to dodge being served. Attorneys for the country music icon’s estate claimed Seaver covered his front porch in barbed wire and yellow caution tape, thus delaying the formal delivery of the suit
The legal team even filed a photo of the alleged barrier before urging a judge to deny Seaver’s request for more time to hire a lawyer. “Mr. Seaver attempted to evade service of process, and this court should not reward that behavior,” the estate’s lawyers said, per Rolling Stone.
They added that they tried to serve Seaver three separate times but were unsuccessful. During one failed attempt, the server arrived at Seaver’s house and saw four cars in the driveway—but no one answered the door.
“Eventually, Mr. Seaver’s residence had a no-trespassing sign in the front yard and barbed wire draped across the handrails leading to the front door,” the filing alleged.
A hearing is scheduled for Friday, October 9, unless the court approves Seaver’s request for additional time to secure legal representation.
Seaver’s legal war with Parton’s estate comes shortly after the “9 to 5” singer’s longtime driver broke his silence on her death. Although Parton’s reps confirmed she passed away after a “brief battle with cancer,” her driver, Jason Pirro, alleged to In Touchthat she actually died of a broken heart.
Pirro suggested Parton was never the same after her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, died in March 2025. He told the outlet, “It was a bad time for her. She didn’t say much, but she sometimes talked about how much she missed him so much. She didn’t want to make a big deal about it because she knew that I knew how she was affected by it.”
“I think that’s why she passed away so soon after he did,” Pirro explained. “She died of a broken heart, but she didn’t want to say that because she didn’t want people feeling sorry for her.”
He added, “In a way, I think she was looking forward to passing…It’s sad, but they had a good life together. The way their relationship was, she knew that they were going to be in heaven forever. I didn’t think it would be that soon, but it was.”
