Disney Confirms New ‘Jonas Brothers’ Show Coming to Disney+ After 16 Years

Disney Confirms New ‘Jonas Brothers’ Show Coming to Disney+ After 16 Years

For a generation of Disney Channel viewers, the Jonas Brothers were nearly impossible to escape.

Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas starred in Disney movies, appeared across the network, released music through Disney’s Hollywood Records, and eventually landed their own television series.

That era ended nearly 16 years ago.

Now, the Jonas Brothers are officially getting another show on Disney+, although fans shouldn’t expect a traditional sitcom this time around.

Disney has struck a licensing agreement with iHeartMedia that will bring the Jonas Brothers’ new video podcast, Hey Jonas!, to Disney+ and Hulu beginning August 14. It’s part of a larger agreement involving six iHeartMedia podcasts headed to Disney’s streaming platforms.

And for longtime Disney Channel fans, the timing makes this one particularly nostalgic.

The Jonas Brothers Haven’t Had a Disney Show in Nearly 16 Years

The Jonas Brothers’ relationship with Disney stretches back nearly two decades.

After becoming major Disney Channel stars during the late 2000s, Kevin, Joe, and Nick received their own series, JONAS, which premiered in May 2009.

The series initially followed the brothers as fictionalized versions of themselves attempting to balance everyday teenage life with their careers as famous musicians.

Disney reworked the show for its second season, changing the setting and eventually renaming it Jonas L.A.. That version took the brothers to Los Angeles as they pursued new opportunities while dealing with relationships and their increasingly complicated lives.

    It didn’t last long.

The final episode of Jonas L.A. premiered on October 3, 2010. Disney Channel canceled the series after two seasons.

That means it’s been nearly 16 years since viewers saw the Jonas Brothers headline their own Disney series, and it’s been more than 16 years since the show premiered.

Now they’re coming back in a very different format.

Disney+ Is Getting a New Jonas Brothers Show

Hey Jonas! is officially described as the Jonas Brothers’ podcast, hosted by Kevin, Joe, and Nick.

Rather than playing fictional versions of themselves within a scripted sitcom, the brothers will sit down for conversations that give audiences another look at their lives and personalities.

The companies describe the show as a place for the brothers to share a different side of themselves through deeper conversations.

The podcast itself recently launched, but Disney’s agreement means video editions will now have a home on Disney+ and Hulu.

The first Disney+ and Hulu episode arrives August 14, and Disney isn’t treating the date as a coincidence.

The Jonas Brothers’ Disney Return Is Getting Even Bigger

The Disney+ debut of Hey Jonas!will coincide with the release of Camp Rock 3 (2026).

According to the announcement, the August 14 episode will focus on the new movie, which features all three Jonas Brothers. Additional Hey Jonas! episodes will feature Kevin, Joe, and Nick appearing live at Disney’s D23 event that same weekend.

It’s a major Disney reunion happening on several fronts at once.

The brothers aren’t simply returning to Disney+ with a video podcast. They’re doing it alongside another entry in one of the franchises that helped make them Disney Channel icons in the first place.

For fans who grew up during that period, Disney is tapping directly into the nostalgia surrounding the Jonas Brothers’ original run with the company.

Disney Is Bringing More Podcasts to Disney+

The Jonas Brothers aren’t alone in the new agreement.

Disney’s deal with iHeartMedia covers six podcasts, with some heading to Disney+ and others streaming through Hulu.

Pod Meets World will arrive on Disney+ on August 24, while Desperately Devoted, Fake Doctors, Real Friends With Zach and Donald, StraightioLab, and Thanks Dad With Ego Nwodim are heading to Hulu on different dates. Some will also be accessible through Hulu on Disney+ for eligible bundle subscribers in the United States.

Disney has already experimented with bringing podcasts and companion programming to its streaming services, but the Jonas Brothers give this latest expansion a particularly recognizable Disney connection.

Lauren Tempest, Disney’s head of direct-to-consumer content planning and partnerships, said the company sees video podcasts as another way to connect viewers with familiar talent and entertainment properties.

The Jonas Brothers Are Back on Disney

No, this isn’t JONAS Season 3.

Kevin, Joe, and Nick aren’t returning to play the Lucas brothers, and Disney hasn’t announced a revival of the sitcom that ended in 2010.

But there’s still something fitting about seeing all three brothers headline another piece of programming on Disney+ more than 16 years after their original series debuted.

Disney has spent years revisiting properties and personalities that defined its Disney Channel era, and the Jonas Brothers remain one of the biggest success stories to come from that period.

Beginning August 14, they’ll officially have their own show on Disney’s streaming service.

It’s just going to look very different from the last one.
