Cyberpunk 2077 now runs in a web browser through cyberpunk2077.lol, an unofficial fan port from developer omonkey (@omonkeyzz on X) that went live on 22 October. It doesn’t check whether you own the game, and it doesn’t ask for any of the game’s files.
CYBERPUNK 2077 IN THE BROWSER IS LIVE🔥

The port runs in Chrome and Edge on PC through WebGPU, and has reportedly worked on some Android phones too. That’s a striking result for a game Sony pulled from the PlayStation Store in December 2020 over how badly it ran on last-gen consoles. But the bigger question is how long anyone gets to play it, because the two big browser ports that went viral before it this month are both already offline.
Night City in a Chrome Tab, With Your GPU Doing the Work
This isn’t cloud gaming. GeForce Now and similar services run a game on a remote server and send your device a video feed. omonkey’s port sends the game itself: models, textures, and other data stream into the browser as you play, and your own graphics card renders Night City through WebGPU, the graphics standard built into modern browsers, with WebAssembly running the compiled code alongside it.
So the browser removes the install, not the hardware requirement. The first launch has to download an initial batch of assets and compile shaders before anything appears. Russian outlet WTFtime reported that its first attempt pulled down almost 700MB, then showed only a black screen on a machine running integrated graphics.
omonkey’s launch post asked players to share their experiences, and the ones who got in describe an experimental build. Long loads, freezes, and missing audio are among the reported problems, and omonkey says optimisation is still to come.
No Game Files Required, and No Ownership Check
Many fan browser ports keep the original game at arm’s length by asking players to load files from a copy they already own. The port supplies the engine work, and the player supplies the game. cyberpunk2077.lol skips that step and serves CD Projekt Red’s assets to anyone who opens the page.
Getting Cyberpunk 2077 running in a browser at all is an impressive piece of engineering. Handing it to anyone with no ownership check turns that engineering into free access to a paid game, and that’s the part a publisher has the hardest time looking past.
The launch timing made the port impossible to miss. It went live on the same day CD Projekt Red released Update 2.5, the free Edgerunners 2 update that adds dual-wielding and a field-of-view setting on consoles, two days after Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix. Launching that week put the port in front of players already heading back to Night City, and in front of the studio at the same moment.
omonkey’s Fortnite OG Browser Port Is Already Offline
Cyberpunk 2077 is one of three browser projects omonkey is running. His pinned post links playterraria.lol, cyberpunk2077.lol, and fortniteog.lol side by side.

Fortnite OG was the earlier attention-grabber: a rebuild of the original 2017 Battle Royale map, with work-in-progress footage of Lonely Lodge running in a browser tab posted on 7 October. It was playable only briefly. The site went dark within days and now shows a “Dropping in Soon” holding page, and the reason it went offline hasn’t been confirmed. Epic Games, for its part, already runs an official OG mode inside Fortnite, so a fan rebuild of the same map was always sitting next to a product Epic sells around. The Terraria port is listed alongside the other two, with few details shared about it so far.
GTA V Lasted Hours, So How Long Does Cyberpunk Get?
The closest precedent is barely three weeks old. Around 6 October, a separate project put Grand Theft Auto V on playgta5.com, and a clip from Pixel Gamer 4K showed it running in Chrome on an M3 Pro Mac. It needed roughly 700MB to start, pulled in more assets during play, and ran locally, the same model omonkey’s port uses. The site went down within hours. Some players blamed Rockstar, but no takedown has been confirmed, and the page was later seen showing a “who wants the source code?” message in place of the game.
Two browser ports of major games have now vanished within days of going viral, and the Cyberpunk port carries the same exposure: a well-known paid game, served free, with no ownership check. If CD Projekt Red decides to act, the GTA V timeline suggests it won’t take long. The one change that would weaken that case is the step other fan ports already take, asking players to bring their own game files. For now, cyberpunk2077.lol is still online, and omonkey says he is working on it “24/7”.
