Cracked is headed for the biggest weekend event in entertainment, and we’re bringing our funniest friends with us!
When you hear the words “San Diego Comic-Con,” what comes to your mind? Cloud Strife and Guts clashing plastic great swords in a convention center lobby? A Warhammer enthusiast lugging around 200 cubic feet of painstakingly carved EVA foam? What about a line-up of the most exciting rising stars in stand-up comedy wearing whatever they normally wear onstage?
That might not be the first mental image that many people associate with SDCC, but, this Saturday, we’re pairing comedy and Comic-Con in a can’t-miss installment of Cracked Comedy Club. The alliterations are endless!
This July 25th at 9:30 P.M., Cracked will take over National Lampoon: The Yellow Doorfor a very special stand-up showcase hosted by Ryan Archuleta and featuring the most must-see comedians on the West Coast.
Meet the line-up for Cracked x National Lampoon x Comic-Con:
Our host with the most, Ryan is a retired Army Special Operations Veteran hailing from Rialto, California who considers himself to be something of a “serial entrepreneur.” He’s a premium vending machine magnate in San Diego, but the comedy business will be his target market at Saturday’s show when he faithfully serves as our distinguished master of ceremonies.
Charlie got their start in the Chicago improv, sketch and stand-up scenes before making the midwestern artist’s pilgrimage to Los Angeles, where they are a regular at Dynasty Typewriter, UCB and The Elysian. When we asked Charlie about their comedy roots, it turns out they run a little deeper – and blonder – than the Windy City.
CRACKED: Who was your first hero in comedy?
CHARLIE: I wish I could say Conan O’Brien, but it was Louis CK. And I wish I could say it was Louis CK, but it was Ellen DeGeneres.
Mary is a prolific writer, actress, comedian and talk show host whom Time Out: New Yorkonce described as a “gonzo genius” for her one-woman show about a love affair with Jack Nicholson. On The Mary Houlihan Show, she interviews comedians, journalists and grassroots candidates as she cuts through the hypocrisy of comedy and politics. Naturally, her dream guest is Dave Chappelle.
Another Los Angelino, Vince wrote on the Hulu comedy series This Footand has opened for comics like Maria Bamford, Melissa Villaseñor, Gabriel Iglesias, Al Madrigal, and Ralph Barbosa. Vince is gearing up to release his brand-new stand-up special Up & Comingon Veeps this October 9th. And, like Ryan, he’s a bit of a small-business-owner, too:
Noah is not the first Findling to find his calling in stand-up comedy. His older brother Ahriis also an active performer, but Ahri isn’t going to be at The Yellow Door on Saturday so we’re going to do what their parents hopefully didn’t and play favorites. The New York Timesnamed Noah as one of their seven comedians to watch on Instagram and Twitter, but you know which comedian he’d pick if he could add an eighth:
CRACKED: Who is one comedian whom every comedy fan should know (besides yourself)?
NOAH: One comedian that every comedy fan should know is my older brother Ahri Findling. We’ve known each other for a while. He’s really funny. Go give him a follow.
Another Los Angeles-based, Chicago-born comedian and writer, Fatimah is on a mission of the utmost importance: she wants to prove to the world that beautiful women can be equally stunning stand-up talents. You can find her self-produced stand-up special Nice To Meet Meon Comedy Dynamics.
CRACKED: What is one trend in comedy that you wish would disappear?
FATIMAH: People assuming hot women aren’t funny.
As both a professional stand-up comedian and a X Games correspondent, Austin seems to be speed-running the dream jobs of every teenaged boy in America. However, Austin apparently isn’t satisfied with the lack of x-treme stand-up in the world right now, so his new dream is to combine his two passions.
CRACKED: What excites you the most about the future of comedy?
AUSTIN: Doing stand-up in floating anti-gravity shoes.
Our Florida-born social media star Ben is another veteran of the armed forces, but, more than that, he’s a veteran of Florida. Now that he’s established himself as a household name in the Los Angeles comedy community, Ben isn’t afraid of much, given how he’s out of range of all the flying alligator and bath salts cannibals.
Willie broke out on the hit BET series College Hill: Virgin Islandbefore breaking out of the reality TV game and becoming an actor, comedian and podcast host. His show, Afronoodles, boasts a six-figure follower count and his new special, Good Dad, Bad Fatherpremieres later today, but Willie’s brainchildren don’t make him half as proud as his actual child does:
CRACKED: What is your proudest moment as a comedian?
WILLIE: To have my son in my comedy special skit (after) all the sacrifices I made as a dad for stand up and to have him on there was super cool
Karalynn is an actress, comedian and voice over artist who has become something of a mainstay in the flourishing TikTok sketch comedy scene. If she’s not already in your “For You” feed, it’s time to fix your algorithm and start mainlining her downright cinematic posts:
Max is a comedian, content creator and rapper with over one million followers on TikTok, and he did it all with his individuality, his work ethic and his talent. See, those are the qualities that all successful humans have, because they’re innately human – robots can’t come up with anything half as inspired as an impression of the late, great Mac Miller if he rapped like Kermit the Frog.
CRACKED: What is one trend in comedy that you wish would disappear?
MAX: AI generated flyers. WHACK. Make your flyer yourself. If it looks kinda bad that’s FUNNY and PART OF IT. GOD FORBID something have CHARACTER.
