Tracy Lawrence told Fox News Digital the one thing he should have done after surviving shooting.

Tracy Lawrence is getting real about why he finds it “disheartening” to visit California.

During a recent appearance on the “Like a Farmer” podcast, the 58-year-old country music star discussed his recent acting project, which he traveled to Los Angeles to film, but admitted the city didn’t leave a great impression on him.

“I had a couple of different acting coaches that I was working with over the last several years, but I mean, it’s just weird going out to California these days, man. It’s kind of… it’s disheartening. I just kind of pulled the plug on all that stuff.”

He and host Pat Spinosa then went on to speak about the beauty of the state while sharing what they believed were many downsides to living there now.

The “Sticks and Stones” singer said he will be in California for a while in August and September because he has “a bunch of shows out there,” and he is not looking forward to the high price tag that comes with playing in the state.

“Man, we’re looking at $10 a gallon just for gas. You know, take a fleet of buses out there and your trucks and stuff and go out there and try to promote shows,” he said. “They tax you to death.”

He continued, “The economy out there is awful. You know, the price of fuel and just getting in and out of the states, tremendous.”

Lawrence then added that playing shows in California is “basically as difficult and as unprofitable as going into Canada right now.”

Lawrence spoke about the current political climate in America during an episode of his podcast, “TL’s Road House,” in March, urging others to keep politics out of music, saying it “is supposed to be one of those things that brings us all together.”

“Our journeys are all unique into themselves, but we all share a passion and a love of music,” he said. “What I love about it, and I wish we could get back to more of this, with all the divisive stuff going on with politics and the world… music is supposed to be the thing that unites us.”
