Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay Joseph returned to Chennai today after finishing his London trip. A planned Tamil community award event in London was canceled at the last minute. Local police raised safety concerns following official advisories, leading to the cancellation.
The decision came after controversial remarks by actor Vijay Sethupathi during a weekend episode of Bigg Boss Tamil 10. Sethupathi was reviewing contestant Shathiga regarding her tenure as house captain. He critiqued her leadership style directly on air.
“Making reckless promises and then, when problems and responsibilities arise, blaming the opposition and running away is not leadership. It is deception,” Sethupathi stated during the broadcast.
Netizens quickly connected these remarks to Tamil Nadu CM Vijay. Social media users expressed anger and demanded a public apology from Sethupathi.
Following the online backlash, the Bigg Boss team released an official statement. They clarified that all conversations and interactions are part of the show’s evolving narrative. They stated that interactions must be understood within their onscreen context. The team added that no expression should be construed as commentary on outside individuals, institutions, or political circumstances. Any outside association beyond entertainment context is neither intended nor endorsed by the producers.
