Get your comic-loving fun and cosplay on, the Boise Comic Arts Festival is almost here! Taking place at Boise Centre Sept. 5 and 6, this year’s free-to-attend festival continues the tradition of creativity and community with 25 guest creators, dozens of exhibitors, workshops, performances and more!

“BCAF is a celebration of all things comics, bringing together a diverse lineup of renowned comic book artists, writers, and publishers,” said Boise Public Library Events Coordinator Josh Shapel. “Attendees can participate in hands-on workshops, cosplay contests and a parade, artist panels, gaming, and more. No visit to BCAF is complete without a journey through Artist’s Alley, which gathers together more than 100 guest creators, vendors, and exhibitors.”

Meet Your Favorite Artists and Creators

This year’s festival will feature special guest appearances by some of the most influential figures in the comics industry. Fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite artists, get autographs, and participate in interactive discussions about the creative process behind some of the most beloved comic book characters and stories. Absolute Green Arrow writer Pornsak Pichetshote is making his BCAF debut this year and will talk everything Arrowverse at a panel on Sunday. Ignition Press Editor-in-Chief and Boise local, Jamie S. Rich and artist Megan Levens will share their new comic, The Dogsitters, which is set in Boise. And Eisner-award-winning creators of Santos Sisters, Greg & Fake, will bring their unique humor and indie-comics know-how to the festival.

In addition, there will be a Kids’ Corner, a Teen Zone, a Gaming Arena, and BCAF Reads, a new Treasure Valley-wide community book club. This year’s reading selections were chosen to spark conversation and encourage readers of all ages to discover the power of storytelling through graphic novels. The three featured books showcase the diversity and creativity of the comics medium. This year’s selected books are: for kids – The Lionharts by Mike Lawrence; for teens – Navigating with You written by Jeremy Whitley; and for adults – Do Admit: the Mitford Sisters and Me by Mimi Pond.
