Cinderella at Théâtre de la Madeleine: a manga-inspired retelling of the tale
Cinderella, the family-friendly show from Théâtre Aux Étoiles, returns to Théâtre de la Madeleine in Paris starting October 17, 2026. Adapted by Rébecca Stella and Danielle Barthélemy and directed by Rébecca Stella, it reimagines the fairy tale with a manga-inspired aesthetic. The production previously played at the Lucernaire in 2023 and 2024.
The synopsis returns to the heart of the Cendrillon story while weaving in both modern and traditional elements. The young girl, mistreated by her stepfamily, finds true love thanks to the magical intervention of her reincarnated mother, in a narrative where the manga and the conte de fées meet in harmony.
The show is aimed at families with children aged 5 and up, according to the producers. The original music by Pili Loop, video projections by Anthony Surleraux, and choreography by Léon accompany this adaptation, which pairs the tale’s milestones with a contemporary graphic universe.
