Daredevil has defeated an ancient ninja organization, the Kingpin of crime, and a former FBI agent turned into a serial killer with sharp aim. However, there’s one major hurdle the Man Without Fear hasn’t been able to surpass yet, and it is having a live-action TV show that goes beyond a third season. Back in September 2026, it was revealed that Daredevil: Born Again would be coming to an end with the release of its third season. Not only was the news disappointing, but it was followed up with even more underwhelming reports.
Originally, many rumors stated that the Daredevil: Born Again team was told about the show’s cancellation during the post-production of the third season. As such, reshoots were going to be necessary to wrap up Matt Murdock’s story in a more “definitive” manner. Fans worried Marvel would rush the farewell of one of its most iconic heroes and that creating a new ending without proper months of planning could lead to underwhelming results. Fortunately, this won’t be the case, as revealed by Matt Murdock himself, Charlie Cox.

Charlie Cox confirms Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will not feature an improvised ending
Brandon Davis had the opportunity to talk to the cast of Daredevil: Born Again season 3 at New York Comic-Con. During the interview, Charlie Cox revealed that the whole team knew the upcoming batch of episodes would be the last going into filming, which allowed them to do the ending the “right way.”
“I knew going into season 3 that it would be the end. Bearing in mind what happened the last time [with the <a href="https://comicvibe.com/netflix-to-stream-canceled-starz-comedy-series-run-the-world/” title=”Netflix To Stream Canceled Starz Comedy Series 'Run the World'”>Netflix show], I think this is a much better way to do it: to be able to plan for it, to be able to pay homage to it, and do it right, and make sure that—within the framework of a season 3 and a new show—we also play the hits a little bit. So, I think that’s the way to do it, and I think it’s the right time as well.”
According to Charlie’s comments, Daredevil: Born Again season 3 was designed from the get-go to be the big final chapter of Matt Murdock’s Disney+ show. That means there shouldn’t be (too many) loose threads left unresolved, and that the ending is unlikely to feel rushed.
This is a striking contrast to the third season of Netflix’s Daredevil, which wrapped things up by setting up Bullseye as a future antagonist and revealing that Matt, Karen, and Foggy would finally work together again. Not too long after, it was announced that the series would culminate on this very open-ended note.
On the bright side, early 2027 is unlikely to be the last time we ever see Charlie Cox’s Daredevil on screen. The Head of Marvel Television, Animation, Comics & Franchise, Brad Winderbaum, has teased that the team will take a “breath” after the release of Daredevil: Born Again season 3. After that, they will figure out “what’s next for the character,” signaling that there is still a future for Matt Murdock.
Multiple reports indicate that the Defenders will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars. If that’s the case, then it could be the perfect transition for Daredevil to appear on the big screen. Even if his own standalone show comes to an end, the character could still appear in other films, such as the long-rumored street-level crossover featuring Spider-Man, Luke Cage, the Punisher, Jessica Jones, and, of course, Matt Murdock.
Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that Marvel will give us a proper update on Daredevil’s future before the release of Born Again season 3. To make matters more complicated, we don’t know when the last batch of episodes will hit the small screen. However, the first two seasons of the show were both released in March, so it stands to reason we’ll face a similar scenario yet again. In the best-case scenario, the show will tease where Matt’s story is headed next. And if that doesn’t happen, Marvel will hopefully unveil its next phase’s worth of projects soon, and Daredevil will still be part of it.
Daredevil: Born Again season 3 will be released in 2027.
