Jennifer Beals (“NCIS: New York”) and Katheryn Winnick (“Big Sky”) are teaming up for a new project involving someone very familiar to fans of TNT’s 2010s lineup.
Both actresses have signed on to Lifetime’s “Murder in Cold Country,” a movie based on a story by Tess Gerritsen, author of the “Rizzoli & Isles” novels, and Dan Rosen (“The Last Supper”). Gerritsen’s books were the basis for TNT’s drama series of the same name, which starred Angie Harmon as Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as Maura Isles.
“Murder in Cold Country” will follow Maya Lewis (Beals), a detective who moves from Miami to Alaska after a harrowing run-in with a serial killer. Her new partner, Joanna Doyle (Winick), also has a “devastating past” — per the official logline — and the two women must work through their initial distrust of each other when their first joint case has hallmarks of the killer from Maya’s past.
The movie will premiere on Lifetime in winter 2027.
