We all know Disney Plus is the hub for Disney content, new and old, along with <a href="https://comicvibe.com/hasbro-debuts-new-star-wars-the-mandalorian-grogu-embo-2/" title="Hasbro Debuts New Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu Embo 2″>Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar and National Geographic. Beyond its familiar classics, the platform adds a steady stream of new movies and shows each month, including original series, Disney Jr. shows, Nat Geo documentaries and older library additions such as sitcoms, reality shows and films.
Some of the original Disney Channel superstars, including Selena Gomez and the Jonas Brothers, are returning to their roots this month. Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas are set to appear in Camp Rock 3, the latest entry in their popular film series, and Selena Gomez will appear (and directs!) Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, which is back for four final episodes that’ll close out their reboot.
These titles, plus a new exclusive episode of The Simpsons and a new Star Wars series, are out this month. Here’s a look at what we’re excited for on Disney Plus this August.

National Geographic
Time and Water
Time and Water had its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and was immediately hailed as a moving and beautiful homage to the natural world. The National Geographic documentary was directed by Sara Dosa and based on Icelandic writer and filmmaker Andri Snær Magnason’s book, On Time and Water, which weaves his own personal family stories with their connection to the land they call home and the impact that the current climate crisis is having on it. The film is available on Disney Plus and Hulu on Aug. 1.
Wizards Beyond Waverly Place (series finale event)
The Wizards of Waverly Place, the series that ran from 2007 to 2012 and starred Selena Gomez as one of three New York City siblings with magical abilities, was rebooted in 2024 as Wizards Beyond Waverly Place with Gomez and many of the show’s original stars returning. The new iteration is back with a four-episode finale event that will be broadcast on Tuesday, Aug. 4, on the Disney Channel (8 p.m. ET/PT) and streams on Disney Plus on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Gomez will appear in the show, and she also makes her directorial debut.

Disney Plus
Star Wars:Visions Presents — The Ninth Jedi (Season 1)
Star Wars: Visions is an animated series of shorts, all produced in different international animation styles (though primarily anime), set in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars: Visions Presents — The Ninth Jedi is a new anime series that picks up where the Visions series left off. It follows the story of Jedi-in-training Lah Kara as she goes on a journey of self-discovery, as she and her fellow aspiring Jedis embark on a quest to save her father and stop a mysterious Sith leader from unleashing darkness upon the galaxy. All episodes are streaming on Aug. 5.

Disney
Pokémon: Indigo League (Season 1)
Pokémon: Indigo League is the original tale of Ash Ketchum as he begins his quest to become a Pokémon Master. This is the series where Ash meets Pikachu and, eventually, the pair meets classic Pokémon friends including Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Charmander. All episodes of the show’s first season will arrive on Disney Plus on Aug. 7.

Disney
Camp Rock 3
Last year, one of my favorite seasonal holiday movies was A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, which was much funnier and more entertaining than you might expect. So forgive me if I sound too enthusiastic for Camp Rock 3, the third movie in the Disney Channel Camp Rock series that stars Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas as the members of the band Connect 3. They’ve matured since their wilder days as members of a boy band, and the now-adult members of the band return to Camp Rock to scout a new opening band for their tour. Joining the cast for the new film are Liamani Segura, Malachi Barton, Lumi Pollack and Sherry Cola. Camp Rock 3 premieres Aug. 13 on the Disney Channel and the next day on Disney Plus.

Disney Plus
Big City Greens (Season 5)
Big City Greens is a sweet and silly animated sitcom about the Green family — father Bill, kids Cricket and Tilly and Gramma Alice — who move from a small-town farm to a fictional big city called… “Big City.” Now in its fifth season, the Greens’ adventures in the city continue, and you can catch five new episodes on Aug. 22.
The Simpsons: Yellow Mirror (special episode)
This summer, Disney Plus has debuted two exclusive episodes of The Simpsons, and a third episode will arrive in August. Titled “Yellow Mirror,” the episode is a Simpsonian riff on Black Mirror and will feature two short stories about what happens when reality in Springfield becomes warped. It was announced at Comic-Con in July that Demi Moore will appear in the episode to lend her voice as a fake version of Marge Simpson. The special episode premieres on Aug. 26.
