A day of historical demonstrations, live entertainment and hands-on activities will return to Boalsburg in October as the Columbus Chapel and Boal Mansion Museum hosts its annual Renaissance Faire.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of the Boal Estate at 163 Boal Estate Drive. The faire will combine Renaissance-themed activities with access to one of Centre County’s most historic properties.

Admission is $10 per person, with children 2 and younger admitted free. Museum tours require an additional $5 admission, according to event organizers.

Visitors can watch historical reenactors and demonstrations, browse arts and crafts vendors and take part in activities including axe throwing and Renaissance games. Horse and carriage rides, a petting zoo, children’s activities, live music and dance performances will also be offered throughout the day.

Food and beverage vendors will be on site as part of the event.

The museum will also offer special tours during the faire, including its armory collections featuring weapons and other artifacts spanning from the medieval period the World War I. The Columbus Chapel will be open for visitors interested in its collection of Renaissance-era artwork and European artifacts.

The faire is part of a busy fall schedule at the museum. Upcoming events also include paranormal investigations Sept. 18-19, a Haunted Tea and Tour Sept. 20, and Autumn Salon Tour and Social Sept. 27 and a talk and booking signing with author Matthew Restall on Oct. 16.

For more information about the Renaissance Faire and other upcoming events, visit the Columbus Chapel and Boal Mansion Museum website.
