Best Buy has announced it will be opening select stores at midnight for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The major US retailer is gearing up for the highly anticipated release, with its website also now featuring a countdown to November 5.
The midnight launch will also include a fresh batch of stock for the limited-edition Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 consoles and matching Switch 2 Pro controllers.
That’s potentially good news for anyone who missed out on the special-edition console during the preorder excitement in September.
For now, Best Buy hasn’t specified how many systems will be available or which stores will receive stock, but it has warned that quantities are limited. Best Buy has also said that store hours will vary depending on region, so you’ll want to check with your local store before heading out.
If you already have an Ocarina of Time preorder set for shipping and would prefer to collect it during the midnight opening, Best Buy has said you can also do this by modifying your order through your “Best Buy purchase history”.
There is a good reason for fans to preorder elsewhere, however, as both Amazon and Walmart have Ocarina of Time listed for $59.88 instead of $69.99.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Switch 2)
The special edition Switch 2 console and accessories was shown off during the dedicated Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct last month.
They will be available from October 29, but are currently sold out at every major retailer in the U.S.
Other highlights in the Nintendo Direct included the first gameplay reveal for Ocarina of Time, as well as a release date.
This is a full remake of the 1998 Nintendo 64 original game, with overhauled graphics that bring it up to modern standards.
According to Nintendo, this is a “faithful interpretation” for new hardware, but it does have a few more lines of dialogue for the characters you meet along the way, to give them more personality.
