The Fantastic Four are about to go through some things. Marvel’s First Family will be getting a makeover for Midnight Fantastic Four, a title launching this October as part of the publisher’s Midnight Marvel initiative. Midnight Fantastic Four, which is set in a new continuity away from the mainstream Marvel Universe, promises to be anything but business as usual.
“I would be the wrong person to write the Fantastic Four, but I’m the perfect person to write Midnight Fantastic Four,” Midnight Fantastic Four writer Benjamin Percy says during an interview withComicbook.com’s Chris Killian. “This is an origin story. It’s an origin story of <a href="https://comicvibe.com/upgrade-your-playstation-5-with-these-3-ugreen-finds/” title=”Upgrade Your PlayStation 5 With These 3 UGREEN Finds”>these characters who are facing their own private horrors and come together collectively to face a larger horror. I’m taking a Lovecraftian approach to this, so there is cosmic horror and eldritch horrors that abound.”
Percy says he’s going to have a lot of fun with the team’s powers, playing with the body horror angle. “A lot of body horror. Their powers are in fact curses. What you’ve already seen on some of these covers, like the cover from Ryan Stegman, the cover from Ben Harvey. It’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the pain that’s going to be inflicted on these characters that are normally thought of as big-hearted. I’m poisoning the franchise happily.”
Midnight Fantastic Four #1 hits the shelves on October 7.
